The dunes and beach are beautiful. It’s a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the beachfront. Seems like a great place for kids. The water sports area in the park is really convenient. Great for kayaking and fishing. The concession and picnic areas could use a bit of work but we found it clean. I can see why people might want to have a beach wedding here because the huge white sand dunes and sea oats are stunning! Water was a bit cool but refreshing. Lots of parking even for RVs.
The beaches are a great place if you prefer all natural beaches with little people spending the day there. It’s a great place for fishing and surfing. The water is much cleaner here than the resort we were staying at. The dunes are huge and beautiful. The “gift shop/snack bar/rental” is gross. Don’t plan to use any restrooms, showers or changing areas. We decided to drape towels around our open car doors to make our own changing areas. Bring your own food and drinks. I don’t advise anything but what is bottled from the shop. If you’re camping here don’t expect to benefit from this area of the park. The best thing at this state park is going to be the Anastasia Water Sports area. We had a fantastic experience kayaking in Salt Run.
Beautiful park!! Campsites are good size.. Park is quite large. Bikes are handy to have... Beach is easily accessible.. Simple to put kayaks and canoes in the water.. Great place for easy paddling!! Have stayed multiple times and can't wait to go back!!!!
Beach is beautiful even after Nicole. Some dunes partially washed away but lots of easily walkable beach with packed sand and lots of shells. Campground has great sites partitioned with vegetation for privacy. Bathrooms nice but water could be warmer in showers. Ancient dunes trail is lovely. Kayaking in Salt Run fabulous-saw dolphins and sea turtles as well as lots of jumping mullet and birds. Can take out at ramp at lighthouse and visit for $13 for seniors as of 11/2022
Clean and spacious beach. Reasonable entrance fee and great amenities. It was a beautiful weekend day with most people staying close to the parking area, leaving the rest of the area open. The further you walk, the more you will find the sand changing texture. Great place for a family visit. Support our state parks!
Amazing camping spot! We spent 5 days here and it was wonderful. The beach is nice, the cafe is delicious, rental amenities for all your camping needs, clean and well maintained. We will definitely be booking another camping trip. Highly recommend even if you want to come for the day.
March weekend camping trip site #43. Beautiful tree lined loops with enough space between sites for privacy. Site #43 had a rut in the drive which made it difficult for backing in see picture. Sites were sand, very hard to keep anything clean. Nice fire pit and clothes line bring your own line. Water and electric hook up spaced very far apart, so plan on a long hose. Bath house is very dirty, one of the dirtiest we have seen in a state park quite a distance from site since one bathhouse for 2 loops. Cell signal non existent at times cricket and mint. Walked both trails ancient trails and marsh both beautiful. Did not order from food stand, was not open when arrived and looked like a very long wait upon leaving. Boardwalk to beach was beautiful and walk north 3 miles, past light house view and to the sunken sailboat. Short walk south to where the beach ends and Embassy Suites takes over . Worth the drive to Mango Mangos for lunch.. very good! Did not get to launch the kayak 50$ an hour to rent a double but looks like a great site. Be cautious during events at the amphitheater.. during high volume events they bus people in walking the camp loop danger. Amphitheater music can be heard from all sites, positive note is the gate to the farmers market Saturday morning.
Excellent camping available. Rental for inflatable boats. Two different trails offered to follow the coastline as well as walk the interior. The combined trails are about two miles one loop one back and forth. Lots of wild small animals and birds on the shoreline crabs and sea birds. Parking is really reasonable at 8.00 per car for the day. Keep the dog on a leash but bring them along. Dogs can be on the trails but NOT ON THE BEACH.
Bring cash much easier if there is a line to get in about $8 I think. Careful when entering there are always turtles eating on side of road, lovely to watch them cross. Once down a ways on the left is a kayak center and further down is access to the beach. If I lived close the pass would be worth every penny. The bathrooms are ok careful the floor is wet sometimes.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Park and campground very well kept. Sites are small, most look too small for anything over 25'. Two very nice walking trails, and you can also walk the campground, which is huge. Don't know about the beach - NO DOGS ALLOWED. Pix is along the Marsh Walk.
