My original retrieval location was at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport dated August 17, 2023, return date was September 1, 2023. The vehicle had Pennsylvania plates expired registration 7/23, which is well before my reservation. My state registration looks completely different and was unaware of the issue until my reservation was almost finished. Avis has offered $200 courtesy refund on a vehicle that is illegal to be on the road when I have to sign a contract to uphold a certain standard. I do not trust Avis as a company at all with the safety and security of the customer. Email summary as follows, "Based on your recent call Avis, we can make a 200 USD credit for you as courtesy once rental ends. We do not have a specific refund policy, but we offer courtesy refunds or credits when inconvenience happen during rentals. Please call and refer your case number removed for privacy so we can process the refund." - Avis customer service representative. UPDATE: after calling again and requesting an email copy that Avis would give only a $200 refund of my total and still charge me for a car that is illegal to drive due to expired stickers, I was then offered $300 refund for my troubles of my total. Email summary as follows, "this email is to confirm that you will get a $300 discount for getting a car that was expired and you was limited to using the car which we sincerely apologize for. " Once my receipt is finalized I will also post my total along with the discount amount. My issue specifically is with the tags out of date and Avis as a company still charging for a vehicle that in all states is not legal to drive on the road. I am not the first person to have this issue and putting the safety and security of their customers at risk is unacceptable in any regards.
Took over an hour to get the keys for a pre-paid rental car. This location does not have expedited vehicle pick up, you must go to the counter, wait in a long line, and deal with frustrated employees who report the computer system isn't working. The vehicle I was given had only 7,000 miles but dashboard had 3 different error codes. I do NOT recommend renting from this location if you value your time or sanity.
The staff at the Manchester-Boston Regional Airport pickup counter were very helpful. Being a small location, the fast pass "go straight to your car" option that I received in email, was incorrect. You MUST stop by the pick-up counter. Fortunately, there were no people in line, so, it was painless. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of my rental experience. First, I was asked if a minivan would be acceptable, even though my reservation was made MONTHS in advance for a standard elite SUV. I had to wait on a vehicle in this class to arrive. I had to reject the vehicle because it 1 STANK and 2 was dirty. The no smoking policy wasn't adhered to, and the 2nd row passenger seat even had a burn hold in it. I had to wait again on a replacement to arrive. This vehicle was cleaner, but not clean. It didn't stink, so I accepted it. Vehicle check in was slow, and the staff wasn't very friendly. Knowing what I know now, if I could do this trip over, I would not rent from Budget/Avis, but from their competitor, whose cars were spotless as we walked past them on our way to our Avis rental.
They charged me for 5 days when I had the car for less than 24 hours, didn't mark the miles correctly, and tried to charge me for two extra days somehow. I'm floored at the terrible service this company allows to happen. UPDATE: I emailed the customer service email that Avis told me to and followed instructions. I heard nothing from them and am STILL going through customer service via phone to fix the very obvious error on their behalf. I've been told everytime that it will be fixed in 3-5 business days, and nothing happens. This is unbelievable. At this point, I think I should get a full refund. It's been almost a month now.
Used AVIS at MHT. Returned my car on the agreed time, but the location employee entered the wrong time in the system, causing me an extra day charge. Contacted Customer Service and was told that I could get 50% of my money back. I did not get another 12hrs with the car to pay 50% of the daily rate. I was robbed and AVIS told me oh well! That is not way to do business. UPDATE: After my review here, I was contacted by AVIS team and got my money refunded.
The vehicle that was rented to me wasnt cleaned. Had a trash bag on the floorboard of the passenger side. Coffee cup in the console between the seat. Had cracker or cooking crumbs in the back seat. Nice car if it had ben clean.
Had the very large size SUV reserved at Avis in Framingham, MA four months in advance. The day before the rental they called to tell me they didn't have the type of vehicle I needed and couldn't find one anywhere. I won't ever use that location again. So, less than 24 hours before I needed the rental I checked with Avis at the Manchester Airport and they had not 1 but 2 of that size vehicle and I would pick it up the next day at noon. Great experience at the rental counter and upon returning the vehicle. No surprises, which is always great!
Understaffed location- dedicated staff needed at return. I was charged a $20 fuel surcharge even though I returned a car with a full fuel tank. This wouldn't have happened if I was issued a receipt at the time of return. Disappointing customer service.
The car was dirty, old car , some kind of sound while applying gas , check oil message and worst the brake as it needs a very hard force. Very scary with kids and high price . Would have returned unless we have a flight to catch. Stongly demand a compensation
Reasonably priced with fast service. Car was clean and brand new. Employee was very nice and very helpful also no surprise charges and the car was great on gas. I'll definitely rent from them again in the future .
