I recently rented a minivan from the Avis location in Greenville to kickstart our family vacation. Unfortunately, my vacation got off to a less-than-ideal start due to several issues with the rental. Firstly, in the rush to get to the Atlanta airport, I didn't have the chance to thoroughly inspect the vehicle. It was only when we got home and began loading our luggage that we realized how dirty the van was. There was even trash left behind from the previous renter. This initial disappointment quickly escalated as we noticed animal hair scattered throughout the vehicle and a layer of dust that suggested it hadn't been cleaned. During our three-hour drive, another problem emerged - the auto car app kept disconnecting from my phone every 15-20 minutes. This made navigating to our destination an annoying and inconvenient ordeal. Despite my initial dissatisfaction with the rental, I tried to let it slide, focusing on enjoying our vacation. However, what prompted me to write this review was receiving a letter from Avis after our trip. The letter stated that the vehicle had been inspected at the destination airport and found in a different condition than when it was picked up in Greenville. Due to the discovery of animal hair, I was informed that my credit card would be charged $450. This left me utterly baffled and frustrated. Why should I be penalized for an issue that should have been addressed before I even drove away from the rental location? I acknowledge that I should have inspected the car more thoroughly at the time of pickup, and I accept my share of the responsibility for not doing so. However, the fact that I'm now being slapped with an additional charge for a problem that was clearly pre-existing is incredibly disappointing. In summary, my experience with Avis in Greenville was marred by a dirty and poorly maintained vehicle, malfunctioning technology, and an unexpected and unfair charge after my trip and an extended amount of wasted time on call to address this . While I accept some responsibility for not examining the vehicle more closely during pickup, I believe Avis should take responsibility for not providing a clean and well-maintained vehicle in the first place. This experience has left me with a negative impression, and I hope others are spared a similar ordeal in the future.
This is an industry that attracts people who like to complain, it's that simple. I have been in numerous service industries so it's easier for me to see things from their point of view and mine. The pickup and dropoff were incredibly easy, both the man and woman were incredibly kind and professional. If you're going to damage the car or drive it twenty minutes after filling it up yeah they're going to bill you. That's their job. Be your own best advocate and stay until the security deposit return is approved and you'll likely be able to work out a mutually beneficial resolution to any issue. I've never had a better experience renting a car in all my life. Be kind, be reasonable, and rent from this location
Everything was fine until we tried to return the car. My wife refilled before returning, but they still wanted to charge for the tank not being full. Is she supposed to push the car back after refilling? You're now losing future local business over $1 worth of gas. Great management decision.
GREAT service! I was hungover and they gave me a gatorade on the house. Lifesavers! And I was impressed with the car they gave me. I will be using Avis again.

I picked up a Chrystler 300 from here and kept it for over a week. The check-in process, the quality of vehicle, the renting, and extending for a couple of days, everything was very smooth. When I returned the car, I filled gas and the gas nozzle clicked shut I filled gas from a Walmart near Furman University, which is 12.9 miles from the place I returned the car however for some reason unknown to me when I returned the car and the car cooled down the fuel guage read a little below Full picture attached, note that the guage was still above 'F' mark. The person who was processing my return threatened to charge me $30-40 if I do not fill up again. I was very upset, not only because I was already late for my appointment, but I was made to hit the road again to fill gas where there are no gas stations close by, the closest QT takes 10 minutes to drive if signals comply. Surely enough, as soon as I started driving, the fuel gauge went all the way up and started reading full - even before I filled gas. I showed them the phenomena and now they let me go. By this time, my Lyft driver had already left, so I had to wait again for another Lyft. What thoroughly disappointed me about the return process is that : i When I told them that I filled gas full, they did not believe me. They kept on insisting that I didn't. They asked me where I filled gas and I said it was within last 40 miles actually it was only 12.9 miles - it just seemed too long as I was driving slowly through the city. ii It is PREPOSTEROUS to charge $10 / ga. for refilling gas - this is what annoyed me most, as it is clearly taking advantage of customers! If the number was $4-5 / ga 2 times price, which is what we expect generally, I would have just asked them to do it. iii They don't have after-hour drop off, which caused me to take leave during a work-day to return the car. However, this is a complaint that I have for several AVIS facilities, not just this one. I hope they change. The entire episode left a bitter aftertaste. I was thinking of giving them 5 stars before I returned the car, but now I am only leaving 3 stars.
A friend rented a car here and received excellent customer service with an upgrade to an SUV. Agent was more than helpful and spent time with him to familiarize him with the vehicle. Rental price was the best in town.
Check your receipt!! Returned my vehicle this morning before opening but a gentleman who was about to clock in took my keys and told me a receipt would be emailed to me. About 30 minutes later, while waiting to board my plane, I received my receipt email from Avis showing a $48 fuel charge for a vehicle I returned with a full tank. The mileage was correct but, according to Avis, there was only 5/8 of a tank. Luckily, I always snap a photo of the dash before I exit the vehicle upon returning. Attempted to call the Avis location before I boarded but the local number provided on Google just takes you to a corporate call center. After spending over an hour trying to get a hold of customer servicefirst attempt was silence once they picked up after a half hour and then a disconnect I was able to talk with someone who drilled me with questions about the address of where I got fuel, what time I purchased the fuel, the amount of fuel I purchased, the cost of the fuel purchased and what form of payment I used to make the purchase they did agree to refund me the fuel service charge.
Don't rent a car from here they tell you all these things over the phone and keep your money if you return the car back before the original date you give them. Read all print b4 signing the papers. Then if you ask for the car back they will not give it to you. I highly do not recommend them
I vacation in beautiful, Greeneville, SC. I had a great time at the art show downtown, great food, and vendors. I met nice friendly people in Greenville, SC. I rented a car from Avis/ Budgeted and they expedited my rental with ease. The only reason why I am giving this location a one star because when I return the car there was not a return dropbox. I became very frustrated with Avis. I had to be one Amtrak train 530am. I had to rely on a friend's family member to return the car keys when Avis opens at 8am. This needs to change for the people who come in to rent a car but can not return the car in an expedite manner. I hope this rating will cause this location to get a dropbox outside of there facility.
