Great place, clean, staff & the Vets r great. But the best part is they have a Wellness Plan & there r 3 plans from low to high. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND enrolling in a plan. You pay monthly & each plan has its particular coverage. It's not insurance I feel it's much better than insurance. And once u sign up u can use it at any Banfield . I want to add after reading the negative reviews I have had 3 pets taken care of by them and I can say they are absolutely professional and kind and above board. Think about the complaints about revolving staff where does anyone stay now that is a thing of the past. I have had a Vet I always went to and I just couldn't afford the treatment at least they give you an opportunity to work with you. Give them a break I went today and without my plan my bill was 641.00 Dollars.I paid 47 bucks with my plan. When you took on your pet you became responsible for its health and well being. I bet some of you have no problem with putting money into your vehicle to keep up with the Joneses if you complain don't own a pet!
I do not recommend this "hospital" to anyone. If I where able to give 0 star, I would. I dropped my dog off at 8 A.M. for a follow up on her treatment plan and it was 3:30 P.M. and I did not receive a follow up call from anyone at this facility, including the doctor. I then went to the doctors office myself to pick her up and the food that I provided them to feed her.. they gave right back to me at pick up. My dog did not eat since the night prior! What kind of treatment is this. They are quick to add unnecessary things to the invoice but take hours to answer the phone or even provide an update. They do not seem to understand the anatomy of my particular breed.
Have been bringing my little girl here for about 10 years. Always a pleasant experience. Everyone helpful and professional. There is 1 female receptionist who needs to stop being rude and picking up and putting people on hold for 20 minutes plus. That is my only complaint. When the males answer you are never on hold for more then 5 minutes. But with the rude female it's like every single time you are placed on hold forever. And she is rude and should not be in customer service. I will still give 5 stars because the vets, the 2 guys that work the desk and the vet techs are all awesome.
Really disappointed with the service I've received here... from start to finish. Let me start off by saying I have used Banfield's services before when I lived in Atlanta and was always pleased with the experience. So I was excited that when I moved back to New York there was a location near my home that I could take my two cats. I will say, that they neutered my kitten and the surgery went well. So far each of my cats have had one wellness visit each, and my kitten got all his shots. Throughout the entire experience it has been extremely difficult to get someone on the phone. I was not able to get explanations from the doctor for basic health questions or concerns for either of my cats when I tried to call or email. And then this last experience just threw me over the edge. On 8/19/23 I received a call from the receptionist who I was later told is named Allison at 8:53am asking me if I could bring my cat in earlier than my scheduled appointment at 2pm. I arrived at the "hospital" by 1:18. I checked in at the front desk and proceeded to sit in the waiting area for an hour without anyone seeing me or checking on me. By then there was a shift change at the front desk, and when I asked the front desk person to check on when I would be seen, or WHY ON EARTH you would call me to come early only to have me waiting past my original appointment time, she did not have definitive answers. Bless her - she did her best but by then I was pissed. I proceed to request to reschedule because I was annoyed and tired of waiting/watching other patients who came after me get seen. As I was leaving a vet tech, Juliet, came out and asked me if I was sure if I wanted to leave. She proceeded to throw the front desk person Allison under the bus and explain that the front desk person never alerted the vet team that I was checked in. TO BE CLEAR: that is worse than the original offense. Not only did you throw your co-worker under the bus... but you are admitting that the person who is responsible for checking in patients never actually checked me in?! But all of you saw me sitting there as you walked in and out and NO ONE bothered to ask if I was being helped. Juliet said she thought "i was just sitting there." I replied that it makes no sense that I would arrive and NOT check in at the front desk. I said "that is literally your job" by "your" I meant as a service provider in this establishment -- it was meant to be generic -- Juliet replies "well it's not my job". I'm SORRY - are you an employee here? Is it not your job to help the people who pay $$ and entrust you with their animals? I don't care if you do not personally sit at the front desk. Of course, she was getting defensive because I was upset. But, respectfully, I had every right to be, and her reaction to my frustration made it worse. None of this is acceptable and I have every right to be annoyed. I pay monthly into a wellness plan that I can't even use because you can never get people on the phone and when you show up the customer service is piss poor. If I could get my money back for the past year I most certainly would. As soon as I get a chance to cancel the wellness plans for BOTH of my cats I will not hesitate to do so.
My dog is a member since 2020 & we love it, then i enrolled my brother’s dog last year for which i am the caretaker now. The Staff & Veterinary Doctors are wonderful, but some issues with Banfield overall: 1. Takes a very long time to be put on hold minimum 20-30mins via phone, why can’t they have another # or chat line to answer members’ questions & concerns-some may be emergencies, even if i leave a message-noone gets back to me so better to wait or call again, & be put on hold again. 2. App takes forever to book even for a routine vaccine-so best is to call still 3. Lab samples for testing get lost-i had to bring my other dog’s decal sample like 4-5x ang they keep losing it. So several trips wasted. I would understand if they lose it once, but several times is truly unacceptable. I had several phone calls-some promising me they will call me back-but noone did. 4. Given different information by staff via phone: new dog’s additional dental or labs can be scheduled or brought in at day of scheduled visit-but when we went there-not possible due to the annual anniversary or not due yet. 5. They do not check their email: i requested last month my dog’s records be sent to a specialist’s office, followed up 1 wk after-they were not aware. So after my dog is seen as a new patient takes 2 months to be seen with the Dermatologist, I wanted to request a refill of my dog’s allergy med as Banfield is closer & near my work, so I emailed the derma’s consult/referral copy for the Vets at Banfield a few days ago, but when i called, a receptionist of course they have not seen my email request still said my dog still has to come in & be seen by their Vet before they can change the allergy med dosage? I had to argue as that isn’t the specialist’s recommendation weigh more? So why do i need to schedule for my pet to come in? In the end the receptionist said they will ask the Vet about it. I also work in healthcare-nursing home facilities, & we interdisciplinary team of doctors, nurses. social workers, dietitians, rehab-PT/OT/ST when refer our patients to specialists, we review & follow the recommendations of specialists when our patients come back with the reports of their consultations outside of our facilities. So how come it is not the same system, & I am always given different information? I can only imagine other Banfield members & their pets given the same information, & having to waste time, effort & money to go-when if the receptionists are educated well enough by the Banfield Management on how to deal & be on the same page, & not give different answers on the same issues. I hope Banfield-Pelham will make changes for the better as I had friends with furry family members who already left as they were not really happy with their experiences with this location. I will still give this location a try due to its proximity to my home & work areas, or I will move my pets to another location that I used before & never had any issues. Thank you.
Banfield was the best thing to ever happen to my fur baby. My Bichon Poodle suffers from an allergy from the distemper vaccine so he’s very delicate. He was going bald and would occasionally lick on the injection site, I went to sooooo many vets and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong with him. The folks in Banfield figured out what was wrong and took such good care of him. I suggest for new fur mom & dads invest in the wellness plan so they can take blood and do a thorough wellness check on your baby. It’s worth the money, trust me!! Shoutout to Dr. Njeri Cruse & her staff. She is so detailed and involved in my fur babies health, I greatly appreciate her! Thank you guys!!!
Waste of money, had to pay $500 to cancel my plan even though i was paying $100 a month for my pets and wasn't bringing them in regularly cause they were good. On top of that it's hard to even get and appointment, plus they have a hard time getting or keeping vets there. They also have a 1 star out of 5 on the better business bureau site with over 500 reviews.
HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! If I was able to give this place 0 stars I definitely would. Let me start off by saying how unprofessional they are. Long story short the process to even make an appointment at this place is ridiculous. First red flag was when my boyfriend made an appointment for shots like 2 months ago. The day of the appointment the front desk person called talking about can you reschedule the appointment because the doctor did not want to stay late. Fast forward we finally got an appointment for two weeks later. Let me tell you the staff at this place is garbage just another place that doesn’t hire qualified staff to work with animals. They asked me if I had any concern, I proceeded to tell them I have a Pitbull that we rescued, and he gets little anxious around people he does not know they told me it would not be a problem. They discriminated my dog just because he was a Pitbull. The person that kept coming out to ask me questions about the dog seemed scared like why get a job at place if you are not even going to try to greet the pet. Front desk told us we were ready to be seen, had us sitting outside for 45 minutes. Multiple different staff kept giving us updates trying to up sale their monthly membership because that is all they care about. After we sat there for over an hour we were not seen, their excuse was my dog was barking too much how do you not expect him not to bark if every time he gets calm someone comes out and when they see him, they jump. Then they said he needed medicine to “calm down”. I really would like to know who does the hiring for this place. Then they tried to charge us for the visit and all the extra fees without even seeing my dog I asked them about it and the guy just stared at me and walked away. This place is a joke.
The veterinarians and staff at Banfield Pet Hospital in Pelham provide OUTSTANDING care to their patients and great customer service to their owners. My family and I moved from Queens to Mount Vernon in 2019, and for the past 3 years I've taken my cat to Banfield Pelham where we have received amazing service. The veterinarians are extremely capable and conscientious; the staff is equally courteous and considerate. In particular, Dr. Frett was extremely thorough during our last visit in October. She reassured me that my 11 year old cat is in great health, despite her unpredictable moods! Rachelle, at the front desk, was just as welcoming and efficient. It's obvious that this Banfield is staffed by true animal lovers. Although there are other Banfield Pet Hospitals nearby, I won't even bother going. Why would I? Banfield Pelham is simply THE BEST!
HORRIBLE SERVICE DO NOT GO THERE!!!! Long story short the process to even make an appointment at this place is ridiculous, staff is garbage another place that doesn’t hire qualified staff to work with animals, I have a Red-nose Pitbull not to sound like a “Karen” but they discriminated my dog just cause he was a pitbull, first front desk told us we were ready to be seen, had us sitting outside for 30-45 minutes to not even go in the office. Multiple different “nurses” kept giving us BS updates trying to up sale their monthly membership, ended up not being seen, their excuse was “my dog was barking to much and that he would not be able to be seen” then they said he needed medicine to “calm down” then they tried to charge us for the visit and all the extra fees without even stepping in the office. My Dog, My Girl & I ending up leaving.
