Leslie Lea, first my condolences in the death of your daughter; my husband had his initial surgery in August 2009. He lost about 60 pounds. 2015 The second surgery was September 29, 2015 revision surgery he lost 100 pounds. Because I had really good insurance they performed the second surgery - there was no way he qualified for the surgery. Insurance fraud 2016 His health began to decline - he too suffered from malnutrition. December 25, 2017 he was rushed to the hospital unable to breathe. He survived but he is a man of 6’1” and he was 141 pounds. We have another doctor from Methodist who “fixed” what Barker wouldn’t acknowledge.
I had the revision surgery on August 6, 2006 by Dr. Barker and ended up on life support for 3 days due to a bowel obstruction because he did not attach my small intestine to the new stomach. I have had a stoke, several surgeries and was on a feeding tube for almost a year. I have been placed on permanent disability because of what he did to me. My whole life has changed after having that surgery. I thank God daily that I am still alive. I would not recommend him to anyone.
"Dr.Barker and Dr.Hodges" did my surgery in 2011 and needless to say I almost died. They performed the duodenal switch on me, which was wrong. I was a whopping 279 pounds, I got Down to 89 pounds no nutrition counciling at all. No hospital in Texas or doctor would touch me I WAS TOO MUCH OF A LIABILITY! I had to be treated in another state!!!!!!! I was in the hospital for 3 months, I had to have the bypass reversed, had numerous blood transfusions, had to learn to walk again. Sill have issues eating, gastrointestinal, mental and physical. I can't believe he is still practicing!!! I can't sue because the statue of limitations is up in Texas. He needs to pay!
I went to see Dr Barker in 2011 on a Friday he recommended gastric bypass even though I only needed to loose 60 lbs he did the surgery 5 days later with no nutritional counseling or psychological counseling. I've had 6 years of hell in and out of hospital 4 times first 3 months, nauseated for 4 years they said I fell into 1 % of paitients. I've just now started iron Iv. Still don't know it will work. I want to know if there's a class action suit against Dr. Barker
I had a gastric bypass 12/12/06. I was 290. I have since remained at 140-150. I owe my life to Dr. Barker. There are many risk factors going into this surgery. The possible complications afterward are enormous. It's a choice...a decision of "what if". I watched my father die after losing both of his legs to diabetes. He begged me to do something. He died at 60. I thank Dr. Barker AND Dr. Thomas as well.
Dr.Wade Barker butchered me, I had several surgeries was sick for over a year. I finally got well when I went to another surgeon. He was never around for following ups .he is arrogant and doesn't care about any thing but the dollar. He is someone you should never considered to even know. His practice will be over soon.also look out for insurance fraud,he's been known for that also. If not for dr.James Davidson fixing what dr.wade barker did to me I wouldn't be here to tell my story.4months in the hospital, 7 weeks in ICU.this man is a walking nightmare.
This man doesnt even deserve 1 star. Hes a first class DB who only cares about the money. After my husband contraxted a rare disease at this hospital he also had a surgical leak. I never saw Dr Barker until I requested a meeting with him once my husband was given a small chance to live. He came from the golf course on a Friday, sweaty and sunburned. All he would offer me was a free place to stay at his guest house mansion. Thankfully I had Dr. Schneiderjon in Amarillo to accept my husband as a transfer patient and save his life!
Leslie Lea- I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. Dr. Barker did my surgery in August 2011. I could not eat or drink anything. After 3 1/2 months of trips to the ER, I was given a picc line; it is like an IV line to wear at home and there was a bag of nutrition. Within 4 days I had a deadly heart infection and was delirious. After a week with no diagnosis at Forest Park, my family had me transfered to another hospital. They diagnosed me within 3- minutes and did not expect me to survive. I had 2 strokes and a mechanical heart valve replacement. I spent 3 months in the hospital and several years recovering. I am alive, but will not be the same again. I know that considering what a difficult time I had - that I am still lucky. Some people have worse experiences than I do.
He did my surgery in 2006, i pulled out my pain bag myself. Could not get an appt with the dr. 3 months out I could not eat or drink. Barker went back in i could drink and eat again. I have dumping syndrome, now IBS I should have NEVER had the surgery.
I hate this man, I know we shouldn’t hate anyone. But he messed my sister up for life. DO NOT GO TO THIS MAN. He does know what he’s doing. Some patients lost their life behind him not being knowledgeable of the procedure. DFW have many better doctors to use. Wade Barker is a crook just want your money and now he’s 1 of the 21 doctor Indicted in a big scam! Thank God for her new doctor who fixed his mess! Do yourself a favor stay away if you want to live a happy life.
