We provide child-directed play opportunities, setting up temporary playgrounds out of scrap material (boxes, tubes, fabric), where kids can explore.
Bayou City Play supports and promotes child-directed play, by setting up temporary, inspiring places for kids to explore.
The supplies we bring are called "loose parts," because they are scrap materials (cardboard, fabric, tape, pvc) and the children define their purpose; kids can make forts, slides, costumes, or just putter around as they wish.
Through our temporary play installations, children learn the value of reusing and recycling material, but also play as they have through the ages, by trying things out and following where their imaginations take them.
In addition to the loose parts, we also bring adults trained in playwork to the site. Playwork is a professional practice in the UK, through which adults help, when and if asked by children, but do not 'instruct' or direct the play.
We love setting up in parks, community centers, or any site where kids are free to play. Give us a call, or check this page for where we'll show up next!
