About

"Best sunset in the hamptons"

Description

We opened The Beacon up, way back in 2000. It's been a great success since Day 1, only growing better with the start of each new summer. We've learned a lot along the way about what it takes to make a summertime-only Hamptons restaurant move and groove. As the light on the East End changes and a new season approaches, we are reinvigorated by the beauty our region provides us. The menu, the wine, and some of the faces may change every year, but one thing never does: our full attention to you.

Loftily perched above the Sag Harbor Cove Yacht Club, The Beacon has a truly stunning view spanning across Sag Harbor Bay, continuing all the way to neighboring Shelter Island. A breeze of warm air guides diners up our front stairway, past planted bamboo and bistro chairs, though our smaller, more intimate dining room, across our expansive upstairs porch, finding the end of its journey back out to sea.

Our food at The Beacon takes on a new twist every year. Menu inspirations aptly span American, Mediterranean, and Asian flavors. While plates may swap out seasonally, there are certainly a few favorites. To start: steamed mussels 'Beacon-style' with garlic, white wine, lemon, thyme, cream, and tomato or braised pork belly with grilled pineapple. For dinner: the halibut baked in parchment with sun-dried tomatoes, tatsoi, and toasted Israeli cous cous is a big crowd pleaser. Finish it all off by indulging in our signature homemade ice cream sandwiches or the lighter key lime tart with macadamia nut crust. Just go for it: this is vacation after all.

Beautiful view of the harbor at sunset, even from the bar inside! Good food overall, cocktail selection is fun and has a couple of interesting twists on classics. Lively crowd towards the end of the evening, lots of regulars that give it that dive bar kind of love but with that higher class bravado. Thank you for having us!Food: 5/5
Dined last evening We have been coming here since living in Amagansett 20 years I think it’s the best overall restaurant in the Hamptons The food the atmosphere The owner David and his daughter Lucy are great Only complaint it’s become so popular it’s hard to snag a reservation but definitely worth it. Thanks for another great evening
One of the best restaurants in the hamptons and almost impossible to snag a table especially around sunset given the gorgeous view of Sag Harbor. Bar is lively and food delicious. This is exactly the type of place we frequent off season, but alas they are only open in the summer. Next best is sister restaurant Fresno open all year.
One of the most delightful dinner experiences. This is James Beard quality dinning and service. Oh yes...did I mention the view? The most unique dish was a special appetizer called tuna taco. A hard tortilla with a layer of guacamole then a layer of a chipotle aiole then shredded lettuce topped with three very rare rectangles of tuna with four spheres of a very spicy sauce on the side If I lived in Sag Harbor, this would be a regular.
Nice place, would definitely go back when cooler, no air conditioning so lots of flies coming in through windowsFood: 4/5
Best boullabaisse dish I've ever had. Spot on service and great setting.Food: 5/5
Food and ambiance is always good here! Prices have gone up with fix price menu in lieu of a la carte, but hopefully that's temporary.
Looking for a beautiful spot to end the day with a relaxing view, amazing food, and friend staff? You’ve found your place. The Beacon nails it. Try the Fish Tacos and Pork Milanese - you’ll thank us!
