At check in, I had some specific wants and desires. Not knowing that I was talking to the general manager, I asked to see a couple of different room types. She politely accommodated my request and showed me rooms so that I could pick the best option to enhance my visit. The next morning at check out, I thanked her and that was when I discovered she was the GM. She is an absolute credit to her property and to Best Western. Rooms: My room was very comfortable and clean. Best nights sleep I have had in a long time Food & drinks: Breakfast was terrific with a good selection of items Noteworthy details: Exceptionally clean, safe and secure, friendly and helpful staff
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and conditionvof the property and the room. The room and bathroom were spacious and well maintained. The staff was very friendly. They offered a hot breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes as well as hard boiled eggs, bagels/English muffins etc,, waffles/pancakes, cereal They have a pool but we did not utilize it.
My compliments to Nika at the front desk! She made my stay so comfortable and enjoyable. She is the definition of great customer service and went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. The breakfast attendant, Emma, is also very kind, hospitable, and hard working. Thank you both!Rooms: 5/5
Jasper had breakfast ready at 0500. For those that have to be to work by 0600 this made all the difference. Nika made a brown bag breakfast in case I had to leave before breakfast was ready, which was also really nice. A great staff at this location. Jasper and Nika made my day. Thanks!!Rooms: 5/5

The GM of this property needs to go back to learn Customer Service. There was a clear issue with my Reservation Stay March 17, 2023, the GM did nothing to help, instead she felt it appropriate to give me a lesson on how bookings happen etc., I thought she was a Housekeeper on break when I first saw her, she ws dressed inappropriately for a Manager in my opinion, her was a mess, she was wearing leggings & a grey long sleeved logo'd shirt not Best Western. This GM thought it was appropriate to raise her voice & display anger at a Guest of the Hotel, why? There was a CLEAR issue & miscommunication, again I had proof of my reservation for the date I was there, I wasn't mad, I just thought this hotel they would do the right thing & make the situation right and take it up with the third party I rented through. Instead, the GM did nothing but get me even more upset after waiting almost 45 minutes in their lobby. I finally rented another room for the night I ws traveling with 2 young children, we had been traveling since 7am that morning & it was now almost 8pm at night, a second room mind you. I complained through the third party and Best Western gave a typical scripted apology but that was it. I also called Best Western themselves to complain, they threw a few points at me but NO ONE contacted me to discuss this issue even though I did ask for it. To this day no one has reached out to me about this complaint so I am now posting a review. Even their employees complain about their GM, not good business Best Western. Thanks for nothing Best Western in California City. Nearby activities: Nothing to do in this town. There is a Dollar General Grocery Store, Rite Aid & Family Dollar, that's it. Closest Walmart according to people working in establishments is 1 hour away. Food & drinks: There is not much in this town. There is a McDonald's, Starbuck's & Subway, other then that it is family run dining places.
Not a lot in California City, but if need to be in this area, this is a great place to stay. Take the time to check out the Desert Turtle Preserve. Beautiful flowers and we got to see a desert turtle.Rooms: 5/5

We picked this location for our overnight stopover on a long multi-state road trip because of the great reviews. We requested a pet-friendly room and got a spacious clean room. The bathroom is a little small but very clean. We arrived on a 95-degree day and the AC kept us cool inside the room. We noticed the wood furniture in the room had seen better days and appeared to have many scratches and dings. The tub surround appeared to be peeling the top layer but it drained well and the water pressure was good. We had our small dog with us and the hotel does have a $100 refundable deposit in case a pet does any damage. The pet fee is a little high at $30. Fast wifi, bathroom is clean and decent, large screen TV with sleep timer, microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. Two queen beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. We had a quiet, peaceful night’s sleep. The parking lot is lit at night so I felt reasonably safe taking my dog out for a morning potty stroll. There is no grass area but the entire area provides either sand or crushed rock for dogs to relieve themselves. On the downside the choice of restaurants for dinner seems limited but there is a Starbucks for coffee in the morning that opens at 5am. Overall the hotel provides a quiet, peaceful night stop and we would stay again if we’re back this way.
