The last time I did snowboarding was 4 years ago, so the difficulty of the tracks was one of my concerns. Thankfully, they have tracks with varying difficulty, apparently the black track is for experts. I was driving from West LA, so I would give you some tips on what you would need to prepare for an enjoyable time at Big Bear Mountain Resort. If you are a beginner and plan to drive to this resort and it takes more than 3 hours to get there? Then I would recommend staying over at a hotel or an inn nearby for one night preferably 1 hour drive to prevent fatigue from kicking in because like others have mentioned, you would be driving around winding roads to get to the destination and trust me when I say the drive up there was not enjoyable at all. Anyhow, please buy your lift tickets ahead of time because it will be really troublesome if you don't. I would also recommend buying your own clothing before coming here snowboard clothing, gloves, goggles, winter scarf, beanies. As for shoes and the snowboards, you can rent them here but remember to book them ahead of time at their website preferably 7 days ahead for the promotional discounts. As for parking, there are plenty of them and they are free of charge. As for the snowboarding experience, I loved it. I just wish the signs that they put up to let people know which tracks to take are bigger. Overall, it was a fun experience and I would come again.
This place was opened but not for snow season. It was opened for other events not related to skiing. The facilities that are provided by the resort were not open however vendors brought in for the specific event were selling goods and servicesVisited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entryFree
Fun family resort with plenty to do. Lake is fun, alpine slide, mountain biking and more!
Big Bear is the best and highest ski resort in Southern California. While not huge, it's certainly large enough to keep you busy and entertained for days. There are plenty of beginner and intermediate areas, lots of park features, and a handful of advanced slopes - so there's something for everyone. The snow quality is pretty dependent on recent and infrequent storms. They do their best with snowmaking, but don't be surprised if some of the resort is off limits due to insufficient snow coverage. For this reason, Big Bear isn't a world-class destination, but it gets major points for being so close to LA and the rest of southern California. There are two areas of the resort a couple miles away from each other. Snow Summit is the preference of many skiers and those who want long, winding runs and more lifts to choose from. Bear Mountain skews more towards snowboarders and emphasizes terrain park features. It also feels more crowded than Snow Summit since there are only a couple main lifts. Get there early on major holidays and busy weekends, otherwise you'll park in a far-off overflow lot and stand in a long line for a shuttle.
Epic! Sit back, have a drink, or set a trail to the mountain top. Wonderful place to have fun snowboarding, skiing, or just people watching. Enjoyed it very much!
Such an amazing relaxing place to be if your snow boarding, taking a walk by the lake and enjoying the beautiful view
Love this mountain. Just went last week after the storm and snow was great. Have taken several friends here over the years to learn as well. Nice easy trails for beginners, as well as fun intermediate ones for those more experienced. I don't do the diamonds, as I don't enjoy them, but if they are tour jam, Bear offers those as well. Amazing view of the lake from the Bear mountain express. All around great atmosphere. Family friendly and free parking. Bought tickets online and easily obtained them by scanning the QR code at the kiosk. Ticket retrieval was a breeze. No time wasted in line. Got burgers at the grill on the mountain during a break and enjoyed watching the riders come down the mountain while eating.
Fresh Snow, it's time for sking. Close to OC, SD and LA. Nice rides, great restaurant and bars. If you want to have fun and do ski or snowboardig for short time and be home by night, Here is the best place.
This place is horrific. The staff are brutally rude. We were told there was no parking space but when we went up, we saw spaces. They chased us down and told us we couldn't use the spaces. One time we were told they were being saved for future users. Huh?? The next time we were told they were for staff. Then there were all sorts of rules for having our granddaughter try her first ski attempt. As they say, I've been there twice, my first and last time. Horrific experience.
Best ski resort in Southern California with some good blue slopes. Express lift is fast. I will suggest bring your own rental especially for holiday because the line will be long, and the system is bad. Text me the wrong place Most people have to take shuttle unless you arrive early.
