Bloom High School

Description

Bloom High School is a public school in Chicago Heights, Illinois. It is part of Bloom Township High School District 206.The school was founded in 1900. A second Chicago Heights high school, Bloom Trail, was established in 1976 to offset overcrowding. Since 1995, however, Bloom and Bloom Trail have shared the same sports programs, drawing from over 3,000 students in grades 9 to 12.The present Bloom High School building, erected during the Great Depression, was named to the National Register of Historic Places on June 3, 1982. It is an Art Deco structure with six WPA murals. The frescoes were created by Edgar Britton in 1935. The two limestone sculptures were designed by Curtis Drewes. The main structure of the high school was designed by the architectural firm of Royer, Danley, and Smith of Urbana, Illinois. Major additions were finished in 1956 and 1976.AthleticsSince 1995, Bloom and Bloom Trail have operated a cooperative athletic program. Prior to consolidating in sports, Bloom's teams were known as the Trojans. When combined with Bloom Trail (which used the name Blazers), teams are called the "Bloom Township Blazing Trojans". Both alone, and as a part of the cooperative program, Bloom was a member of the South Inter-Conference Association (SICA) until the conference dissolved in 2005. Since 2006, the program has been a member of the South Suburban Conference.

I was walking past the field and a couple of guys were working on the field at the time. I'm guessing that they were getting it ready for baseball action. I'm not familiar with how it's supposed to look being I wasn't in the area this time last year, but it seemed like it was coming along.
The administrative staff are extremely helpful and the school encourages pursuing college education. This school, like many others, offers an array of AP classes to choose from and has honors classes as well as regular classes. My learning experience continues to grow with excellent teachers while I maintain a 4.8 GPA. The teachers encourage students to ask questions. The school's band, that I happen to be in, has recently started to become competitive during our marching season, displaying shows out to other competing schools. The principal is very nice, an excellent leader, and has turned the school environment into a positive one. My experience has been great. Many new and greater things are in store for Bloom High School. Don't hesitate to send your child here just because of its reputation as a "bad school," the truth is, it depends on how the students make it out to be. Remember, "It's always good to be good at Bloom."
I attended Bloom from 1985-1989 school spirit was high then football was stellar and wrestling was all the rave. Bateman was always in the house with his side kick Mr. Richardson or maybe it was the other way around...what fond memories. I don't talk much with those I attended with but I carry them all it my heart very dearly even those from the senior classes before mine. Those were good times. Sound education and training builds leaders and Bloom is evidence of that.
Bloom High School is a wonderful place. The teachers are very nice, the students are wonderful. Bloom also has a N.J.R.O.T.C. and they are awesome. If you want a good high school for your child send them over!
After attending Bloom from 1980-1984, I realize that while at Bloom you are provided an opportunity. The faculty and staff prepares you adequately to deal with life academically on the next level and life in general.. Opportunity is a scenario that you have to exploit to your own greatest potential whether at Bloom or anywhere else. Bloom provided a bridge of kinship to lifelong relationships. No place is perfect, however a heck of a lot of wonderful memories came from attending Bloom. The evidene of a great school is the large number of alumni who have achieved successful families, great accomplishments, and positive contributions to society. I am a Trojan forever.. Class of '84.. Go Trojans Go! Alonzo Edmondson
I went to register so I can finish my high school years that I have left and they didn't accept me even though I had good grades in all my classes and I was a honor student in my old school. They said they couldn't accept me because of my age I'm 19 trying to get my high school diploma and I had high hopes that they will accept me but instead they let me down by telling me that I should go get my GED instead cause no high will accept me because of my age. Even though I'm already coming from a different alternative school. Don't go to this school they will just shutter your dreams and expectations you have going for you in life.
I am blown away by seeing photos of Bloom, I went to Bloom 1973-75 and I did my 9th grade at what was then the all freshman Bloom in Sauk Village 1972-73
Fond Memories of my first stage performance of the King and I production back in the 70s! Also being one of the Ushers when the Park Forest Philharmonic Orchestra played sold out shows! Those where Happy Times and exciting....Happy Days. I live in London for the past 14 years and when I come to visit I drive by the High School and it all comes back to me.
Not a good school if you want your kid to be smart, they often get distracted and there is a lot of gangs and fights
