I can’t wait to come back and try a boat ride. But the food!! So Good. I had the smoked salmon sandwich. This was a flavorful decent size salmon on croissant. The cucumbers in the cucumber salad were fresh and crisp. The tiramisu cake…was so spongy and delicious.
My wife and I went there for brunch after attending Easter Services. We were not disappointed. The food and the service were first rate. The brunch menu was varied and delicious. It was a cool day but the food was kept warm. I chose to get lemonade but it was not available at that time. One of the staff on duty got the drink set up and brought it to our table. There were several desserts available as well. The cookies and cakes were tasty. We brought some treats home. The staff encouraged us to take home what we wanted. They were quite nice and added to our experience. Just before we left, one of the staff gave us food to feed the ducks that were on the lake. The Boathouse will have a Mother's Day brunch on that special Sunday. The food, if it will like today's, will be worth the price. It definitely was today. I suspect it is everyday it is open. We will go back in the future. It is still popular weeks later. On a Sunday afternoon in June there was a long line outside to order afternoon lunch. Of course there was no table service on that day. That played a role. Still it is a great place to eat.
The Boathouse at Forest Park is one of those places that makes you love living in St. Louis. Located across from the World’s Fair Pavilion, the Boathouse is a casual, fun place to hangout. Many times they have live music, kids can feed the ducks, and dogs are welcome. If you feel like going out on the water there are kayaks and paddle boats that you can rent. I also love bringing my guests from out of town here.
We had the most wonderful lunch here. The food is surprisingly good and the live music was fantastic. Plus, what a view. Can't recommend enough.
We went when it was slow so it was almost empty but it’s still super cool! Food was kinda bland, you go more for adult drinks, the ambience, & to ride paddle boats if you want.
The food is so good!! Had the Pulled Pork Nachos this time, and had the Lemon/Lavender slushies. Yum! Great atmosphere, breeze off the water was amazing, and they had a band playing.
Hellooo!! We had lunch at the boathouse back in September 2021. Yeahh just forgot to write this review... After a bicycle ride, natalie suggested us to have lunch here... We had veggie burger, chicken tenders, waffles, and fruits. I guess I had a local beer!!! It was very nice outside in September, lake view, nice crowd. Thanks a lot boathouse!!!
This is a review of our paddling experience, NOT a dining experience. We ordered no food not beverages, though it smelled wonderful, and looked like a great place to enjoy a meal, dockside, or a wonderful small venue for a memorable event with white tent. My partner and I came to the Boathouse at Forest Park because I've been wanting to kayak through the Forest Park waterways. It was great that we could rent kayaks one or two person, or canoes, pedal/ paddle boats, and even SUPs by the hour, at $15/hr, ea. we rented two single person kayaks. Watercraft rentals are managed by Big Muddy Adventures, a local Saint Louis company that is well known for outfitting and guiding paddling excursions in giant canoes on the Mississippi and Missouri rivers, by day and by night, with options for overnight camping in uninhabited islands, and campfire suppers, as well as outfitting other river adventures. They are a major sponsor? of the Missouri River 340, the world's longest non-stop canoe and kayak race. In other words, they are experts, in the field. Watercraft rentals include life jackets and paddles. The young lady working the rental desk was great, and helpful, answered all of our questions, and explained we could start with postponing for one hour, and if we wanted/ needed more time, we could pay for it, when we returned. The young man that was working the duck was helpful as well, holding the kayaks dockside, as we clamoured into them. However, it was clear that he may not have known much about kayaking as he gave us paddles without the drip guard O-rings. Being that it was mid-October, and plans this as part of a larger day experience, we were dressed in street clothes. Thank goodness it was an unseasonably warm day, we were wearing quick-dry shorts, because our legs got _soaked_! Initially, we thought that none of the kayak paddles had drip guards, but as we paddled along, we noticed that those who were in tandem kayaks had black plastic/ aluminum shaft paddles with drop guards. Those in singles had the same yellow/ blue plastic shaft paddles, without drip guards, as we had. Perhaps the dock hand had been instructed that one type of paddles goes with the single seat kayaks, and the other with the tandem, but there were few people on the water/ in kayaks that day, that they could have given everyone paddles with drip guards. This being said, Big Muddy Adventures should know better, and have all of their paddles equipped with drip guards. This may be a first experience for many city/ near residents or visitors, and grooming drenched from paddle water is a great way to ruin an otherwise unique and amazing experience. Getting soaked aside, we really enjoyed a fantastic afternoon of paddling from and around the Boathouse Lagoon to the Grand Basin at the foot of Art Hill among the fountains, and to the edge of the golf course, paining under many stone arched bridges, a wooden bridge, and the suspension footbridge. I would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Saint Louis or visiting Forest Park, as an out-of-town visitor, or as a tourist in your own town, looking for a new and/ or unique experience. #BigMuddyAdventures #BigMuddy #2Muddy #ForestPark #ForestParkForever Parking: Not a lot of parking, but Forest Park is a beautiful place, and it's never terrible thing to park on the side of the road, and walk a few extra steps through the park on your way to your park venue!
Rode bikes in Forest Park & discovered that the Boathouse had fried shrimp on Friday. Wife had shrimp & I had pulled pork special. Both were outstanding! So was the service & ambiance.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: YesTakeout: YesDelivery: NoCurbside pickup: Yes
Me and my husband went paddle boating on 9/26/21 for our 7 year anniversary. It did not disappoint; beautiful weather and a male and female duck hung out with us. We named them Lucy and Ricky. Ricky came up and nibbled gently on my fingers too! I had an amazing time.
