Had a great time at branch lake today. Small, sandy beach. Water is clear all the way to the bottom. Lots of kids jumping off large rocks. Had no trouble finding parking in the lot although many parked alongside the road to the path to the beach. The path has lots of roots but as long as you are mindful of that it is a short walk to the beach. Very busy there today but not surprising given hot hot it is out today.
Clean and clear water. It was quiet when we were here in September, not much activity. We had a nice and easy canoe ride around the lake from end to end.
As you drive down to Branch Lake either for camping, swimming, and/or fishing, you can enjoy the landscape all around going through the blueberry fields and the apple orchards, as well as in the fall with the leaves changing colors, plus much more, especially if you enjoy the foggy days as well.
Easy, level, wooded trail to the rocky lake shoreline. A loop back takes you out along boardwalks above what is in September a dry marsh. Takes a couple hours at an easy pace.
Super friendly owners. Best lake we've been to for swimming, and kayaking in the bay. Huge lake if you have a boat. Absolutely beautiful. 45 to Bar Harbor. 30 to Bangor. Get groceries before you get there. Closest store is Ellsworth, 20+ in traffic.
This is a new State Park. Clean bathroom, nice walk thru the woods on several paths. Small neach amd picnic tables. Unfortunately this party boat came into the swimming area with several small children were swimming. They allow dogs on a leash. It is carry in and carry out. I will definately go back.
One of the top 3 Lakes in the Greater Bangor area. Water is crisp and CLEAR everyone picks up after themselves. You can't smoke directly on the "beach" but as a smoker myself I love it kids don't need our sh*t in their face and there is an area to smoke...
Nice beach with clear water, great place for a family beach day. Walking trails are accessible from both the public beach area, as well as the boat landing access side.
Great place to swim with adults and children even crowd no rough crowds aloud!!!
Branch Lake is definitely one of the best place to venture to when you want to go swimming in Ellsworth. Generally not too crowded, and when there are larger groups there the people are usually courteous and fun. The water is wonderful and usually quite clear. Not far out from the shoreline there are too rocks, a long one named banana and a smaller one named cherry that are awesome to swim out to and enjoy the actually deep parts of the lake. There's another large rock you can jump off as well. You can swim as far as your heart desires if you're brave. Its a great spot for snorkeling with nice views under the water. Also don't be afraid to come here if you want to kayak/canoe/boat as there's a nice landing and plenty of space to not bother or be bothered by other people's fun.
