Open to NY Hotel Trades Council Union medical plan State-of-the-Art design and technologies. Very few waiting rooms! Doctors mostly come to meet you!! When you check in you are given a digital pass to a private exam / consultation room. Your doctor meets you privately in this room. Hallways are quiet, uncrowded and no medical equipment in sight. Center has fantastic wellness "iThrive" section with lockers. For health seminars, yoga, thi chi etc.
Complete waste of time! Booked an appointment because I been having some ongoing neurological issues, only to be given a pamphlet to call a phone number and speak to a mental health associate, when really I should have been referred to a specialist for an MRI. Like seriously?!? If you can go anywhere else, please do. I’m only forced to go here because I’m still under my parents’ insurance and haven’t been able to get my own yet.
I went on an appointment with my father to see Dr. Leff. She was extremely rude and condescending to my father. I never told her I was a registered nurse just to observe how she is with her patients. She wrote in my father's notes things he did not quite say, for ex. "chest pain while running" when he told her "chest pain when running under stress, like rushing from work to the train." She ignored all his concerns to prevent daily stressors and kept pushing medication rather helping towards releasing the stress preventative measures. She came across as if she looked at my father as health illiterate Nad a minority trying to scam work.
Very horrible place, I give this one star to the doctors and dentist they're great, but for the receptionist, absolutely 0 star. Never wrote any review before but they made me do it today. The receptionist is unprofessional, horrible customer service, they just drop the phone instead of accommodating the needs of their member. I was called for dental appointment, they didn't even told me what it was for and that it was for a root canal. Also calling my number from a personal cellphone is against HIPAA rule, I used to work in a Union too so they should know that.
I went in for my annual check-up today, and as I looked up the directions to the building I couldn't help but notice the 2.5 stars in review. I've been seeing this marvelous staff for over 10 years, and they've seen me through many difficult circumstances of my health, so it only feels right to express my gratitude here as well. The front desk staff was a pleasure as always. Whenever I have an immediate issue due to pain, serious discomfort or any issue relating to my surgeries, they go above and beyond to make sure my health is their priority, too. The building itself is spotless, let alone the office on the 10th floor which is where I go. Very clean, organized, and hand sanitation areas are stocked up and available at any time. I'm very pleased with how well they've maintained their Covid-19 sanitation standards. I have seen Dr. Cohen for what has essentially been more than half my life now, and each visit is an outright pleasure. He is and has always been extraordinarily professional and skilled not only in his craft, but bedside manner as well. We always work out a plan for my health and he takes into consideration my long-term health as well, which I feel is underappreciated amongst health professionals today. I always feel welcome, and that hasn't changed since Day 1. I want to take the time to say thank you to all the staff here who put their lives at risk as essential workers and do so with a smile. I wouldn't be where I am now without your dedication. I hope to continue seeing them for as long as I possibly can!
The physicians are great, but don't ever come here for a dental appointment. I have been trying to get an appointment with the gum specialist. They canceled it twice without sending me a voice mail. I came, CHECKED IN, waited for 2 hours, asked the receptionist again, only to know that the appointment was canceled. You can tell the receptionist that checked me in was half-asleep. I understand, some people get tired. However, when I do call to schedule another dental appointment, they placed me on hold for over 60 mins. I did not learn my lesson, I called again for another dental appointment was put on hold for at least 20 mins. Expect long holds when dealing with dental appointments. They either need to hired more dental receptionist or replace the half-awake ones.
Garbage staff they all hate their jobs, don't even know how they still have jobs, went in once with a blood sugar spike of 550 overnight and almost got turned away by the front desk people because I didn't make an appointment even though I was dying and losing my vision : almost wished I died so everyone there would be criminally liable
Had a wonderful experience despite all of these negative reviews. I did however show up at 12:30pm for a 1pm appointment. I had changed my appointment once before and they changed without an issue and are accommodating to dates/times. Name was called at 1:04pm. Environment was clean, brand new, and staff was welcoming. The rest of the appointment was a breeze. Nurse and Doctor were both SO pleasant. Thank you!
If I can give this place zero stars I would. Let me give all members a pro tip, do NOT call this place for anything. Go in person for EVERYTHING and take down NAMES and NUMBERS. For three hours now I have been trying to call this place because there’s some confusion regarding an appointment and it’s the same loop of events. You call for the fourth time and you finally get a human on the phone, they transfer you and they conveniently hang up on you. You try a little later, this time it rings for 20+ minutes as it’s connecting you and it disconnects yet again. The receptionists here are incompetent, careless and very unprofessional. Either that, or their phone systems are stuck in the 90s. You would think in the Covid19 era in NYC everybody would be on their A game but forget that, it’s too difficult for them. Getting an answer from any of these people is the equivalent to contacting God. The funniest part is I guarantee you when I walk in to sort this out the team of receptionists will be sitting there staring at each other with a lost look on their face if they’re not staring at Instagram. It’s a new shiny modern building and that’s all it is, nothing more. New building, same problems. Just do yourself a favor and save yourself the headache, no matter how inconvenient and far this place is from you GO IN PERSON and take care of everything face to face. Make believe it’s 1875 and Alexander Graham Bell has yet to invent the telephone. Every person you speak to, take down their NAME and DATE EVERYTHING. And to the owner, there are thousands of New Yorkers in need of a job. Clean up house already. I’ve seen better reception skills from a senior in High School giving incoming freshman a tour of the school. This place is a joke. Just want to add, the pharmacists and doctors are actually amazing and the only bright spot in this building.
As someone who’s been going to the Brooklyn Health Center for about three or so years now, I can confidently say it’s been one of the best places health centers I’ve been to! Whether it be dental, pediatric, obgyn, or help with getting referrals to specialists or health insurance help, theres always quick and efficient care, scheduling appointments and such is easy, and I always leave feeling assured that I was well taken care of, respected, and on my way to either recovery or staying healthy! I always get the sense that the doctors, nurses, and everyone there really, cares about what they are doing and how they can give the best experience possible. Everyone has a great personality and attitude, things are kept tidy and sanitary, and the building is easy to get to, navigate through, and is very accessible as there are elevators.
