Mission

Parks Canada's Mandate On behalf of the people of Canada, we protect and present nationally significant examples of Canada's natural and cultural heritage and foster public understanding, appreciation and enjoyment in ways that ensure their ecological and commemorative integrity for present and future generations.

"Dolomite, 420 million years old, rises through the sparkling waters of Lake Huron to form Fathom Five National Marine Park. This is a freshwater ecosystem of ancient rock formations, cliff-edge forests, fascinating dive sites on 22 shipwrecks, and orchid species both plentiful and rare. Visit for a day or backcountry camp on starry-skied Flowerpot Island—Fathom Five is equal parts mystery and recreation, ecology and culture—and a welcoming escape to nature."

Great and beautiful place at the Huron lake, very close to Tobermory that is a beautiful port with hotels, several places to eat, with a nice marina and lots of boats. The reserve has an outstanding sandy beach just a fifteen minutes drive away, with parking and services, at a very affordable price. But if you want a hotel, make the reserve a way ahead on time. These places are a hidden gem in Ontario and an unmissable destiny in summer. Restrooms: Very clean and neat washrooms at the visitor center. Several mobile washrooms on the parking area. Picnic area: Some tables directly over the sand, very close to the water. Take care on the tide, when it goes up it can get your sandals to the lake if you let them unsupervised.
It was amazing trip, senior people also went there. Easy to go by ship. water was cold but i swimmed. Food is not available there, 1 washroom is there, long line. bit the ship journey was amazing.
2022 July 5 This isn't just one area, the Fathom Five are the parks in the area. Dolomite, 420 million years old, rises through the sparkling waters of Lake Huron to form Fathom Five National Marine Park. This is a freshwater ecosystem of ancient rock formations, cliff-edge forests, fascinating dive sites on 22 shipwrecks, and orchid species both plentiful and rare. Visit for a day or backcountry camp on starry-skied Flowerpot Island—Fathom Five is equal parts mystery and recreation, ecology and culture—and a welcoming escape to nature. Lots to see and do in the parks near Tobermory.
Jan 2022 - great place for a relatively short hike, the entire loop should take less than 2h depending on time spent at viewing points. There was no entry fee into the park, and no issue with parking. The viewing tower is closed off to anyone at the park unfortunately at this time of year. The Little Dunks Bay Lookout and Burnt Point Loop Lookout are truly amazing!
Picturesque trails and views with plenty of places to swim and some great hiking. There are also numerous ferries that’ll take you out to the islands nearby.
Beautiful place! Be sure to spend here at least a weekend, so you could explore the National parks, Islands and shipwrecks. Make sure to book your tours and park entries ahead of time, it’s very busy here during the high season. There are a few ship tours- that’s a great way to see the beauty from water. It also great that when you book a ship tour they give you a complimentary parking. it’s very handful since parking in Tobermory is difficult. Make also sure to plan more time for the road, since highway 6 is busy and currently under the construction. Enjoy!
The experience was very nice. We booked the cruise and went into Flower pot Island. The cruise journey was excellent and the scenic view was beautiful. The water was clear like a glass. Watched ship wreck very clearly
An Overall Pleasant Park To Visit My family and I stopped by this park at the north-end of Bruce Peninsula during our 6-day Southwestern Ontario road trip in mid-Aug 2021. With only 3 hours to spare we chose to visit the Visitor Centre's Lookout tower, Burnt-Point Trail and the various little coves facing crystal-clear turquoise waters of Georgian Bay Lake Huron. What can we say; it was a wonderful experience despite restrictive COVID-19 and busy Sunday afternoon. Trails were hard to navigate but well-labelled. Next time we will try and visit the marine trail the famous shipwrecks, and little islands. Well recommended!
A nice place, at the Flowerpot Island, with 3 trek options available. The Ferry, which you book at Tobermory, will drop you, if you have opted and paid for it, at thisnplace and will pick you back after 3 hours. Points of interest are the two flower pot rocks, large and small, and the light house. There are 3 treks available with different level of difficulties, for you to opt for. You can spot some animals like red squirrels which are there in large numbers, some snakes, etc and birds like blue jay, cormorants, sea gulls and more. Restrooms: Restrooms are available, and they are good for use as they can be at any such place Dog-friendliness: Dogs are allowed Picnic area: Many areas with picnic tables available, for group sitting, earing and even camping
Day hiked the island and had a picnic. The water is mesmerizing! One of the coolest places to check out in Ontario. Others on our boat were camping on the island and the camp sites had amazing views.
