The Bulgarian School of Seattle has been offering classes since October 2011. It offers four levels of education in the Bulgarian language, and each level builds on previous knowledge. Regardless of the personal knowledge of the Bulgarian language beforehand, students accumulate and fully develop language skills and knowledge. Classes and the curriculum include culture, behavior and traditions, so that children can develop a more detailed understanding of Bulgaria and their national identity. Training is the objective and expected result for the Ministry of Education that are carried out in Bulgaria in accordance with the curriculum. Teachers have professional training and education. The Bulgarian School in Seattle also teaches their students in history, literature, and organizes monthly extracurricular activities that develop oral language, thinking and imagination, as well as cognitive and creative interests for the students. The children enrolled so far are 50.
The school makes its first steps, but for the short time ever since its creation it has generated wide interest among the Bulgarian community in Seattle, it drew the attention of parents and educators, and stole the attention of Bulgarian children in classrooms from all ages. In a sense, the Bulgarian School in Seattle appears to be like a large family, using Bulgarian language and culture as a common parent. It will continue to work to preserve the Bulgarian spirit and the development of the Bulgarian language and culture.
In addition to our core curriculum (www.bulgarianschoolofseattle.com) Bulgarian school of Seattle offers special classes and workshops to integrate English speaking parents into the Bulgarian language, culture, and traditions. Sessions run during regular school hours every Sunday from 11am to 2pm. Sessions include prep time, lessons, snack/ lunch and group debriefings/training.
