Visited the children's sections to get my 6 year old some books. The library associate there was so willing to help and showed me how to find books using the call numbers. They have a nice large collection of children's books upstairs.
Very relaxed and comfortable setting, this is my second time visiting this library. Great selection of books/Dvd's/Music. On the negative side this place attracts alot of the homeless population but so far no issues other than a woman screaming her head off for no apparent reason. The restrooms need some work as well..
Great book selection but lots of homeless 'encamp' here during business hours so, I order what I want, pick it up, and leave This place should be 5 stars except the one issue. I came to study a few years back while getting my MBA and told a guy to please keep it down because he was having a full conversation with himself loudly for a good five minutes. I got a full rant from the guy. Conclusion: I will just continue to read on my porch. Maybe som day the political nuts that run our city and state will be removed highly doubt it.
If you don't mind the blatantly overwhelming homeless population here, great place to grab a book. As far as I'm concerned with history, novel, YA, and manga selections, they're constantly updating their roster and bringing in new books. People are generally quiet, perhaps a little too quiet; I tried tutoring someone here and my already hushed voice seemed to bother others around me.
It’s fine. The only reason why I don’t come here often is because this place has this really smelly odor due to the many homeless people strolling in. It’s a public place for sure, but sometimes that can be a curse what with all the smelly hobos dragging their dumpster-smelling bums in. I give this place props for just how quiet it is. I know, obviously libraries are supposed to be quiet, but there’s a tranquility to this silence that I quite enjoy. I come here to write my stories or read a book, but I don’t really enjoy it as much asI want to mostly just the smell of this place. Parking is only 3 hours or 2 if you park in the front just as a miscellaneous note. I don’t know. This place isn’t awful, but with hobos stinking up the place I limit my visits.
I like going here for various reasons. There are quite a few computers, which had headphones that were so nice for blocking out the inevitable "white noise" that i struggle with ignoring, sometimes. Earbuds are one dollar, which helps. The volume is not adjustable in any way, which is an issue that is painful to anyone with auditory sensitivity one of the results of brain trauma, being the reason I experience this. The staff is friendly, for the most part, and helpful when approached. I've read the other reviews, which openly expressed that homeless people go here and are not often "pleasantly scented," as though each and every homeless person has a shower stashed, somewhere. Hop off your high horses, gentlemen. If you aren't helping, what grounds do you have for whining? You letting the sane hobo go use your shower on a warm day and giving a $20 for the road, when you bring the person to their choice of near to where you are or where they were location? You expect a homeless person to squeeze water from a stone? I don't figure many will. Help or hush. On the topic of the library, itself, the inside is actually too cold for being a "cooling" center. It's likely to shock an individual from heat stroke. It should only be down in the upper seventies, at coolest. A sizable selection of books is available and the teen area has been remodeled and is aesthetically pleasing. The bookstore is also priced about like a thrift shop, allowing for a "hobo," such as myself to purchase educational and entertaining materials on what budget the public, so kindly, facilitates for me. If you exercise your compassion muscles, as you ought to, thank you, again.
children's section upstairs is full of fun books and check out is super easy also nice displays in the lobby
Knowledgeable, welcoming staff. Good old fashioned 'library values' - respectful of all, helpful, quiet space.
Too bad this place has become an encampment for homeless people. Strong smell of body odor, people with huge bags full of junk nervously rocking back and forth and talking to themselves like inmates of a 19th century insane asylum, occasionally yelling at imaginary demons, police often have to show up and escort some poor soul who's lost control of himself out of the building. Other than that it has a nice book and DVD collection and fast Internet connection with about 20 stations usually occupied by gibbering, stinking schizophrenics.. The courteous staff seems to be under orders not to confront the crazies. The other day a guy was sitting next to me eating a Big Mac and dripping all over the computer. Another time a guy was furiously scratching his head from flea/lice/bedbug infestation. The restrooms always have bums sitting on the toilet or bathing their underarms at the sinks.
I enjoy this place its a very great place to meet up with friends and if you are a student you can show a student i.d and get to use the computers for free for about 1 hour! Staff very friendly and there is a upstairs area for little kids and at night they have little meet ups to tell story's i really like it.
