Make an online reservation for the new BMV in Bangor; it's a game changer - no more long waits! The new location is much more convenient and easier to find. Inside, there's ample seating and vending machines for when you need a quick snack or beverage. However, it's important to note: excise tax for vehicles is paid at the local town office where the owner of the vehicle resides. When a vehicle needs to be registered, an excise tax is collected prior to the registration - you can't pay it at the BMV. The on-site bathrooms are clean, and the staff is friendly and efficient. I can't stress it enough: go online and make a reservation before heading in. It streamlines the whole process!
Extremely unprofessional service out of Gigi. My sister had called to get information pertaining to her license in Maine, that she is trying to get a duplicate of. She was mearly reaching out for information. After she was hung up on the first time and waited again on hold the second time she was greeted with nothing but an unprofessional behavior, no assistance, passive aggressive and over all a bad attitude. It made my sister very discouraged. It's sad knowing these are the people in place that we go to with questions and help.
I don't think anyone goes to the BMV if they can help it, but sometimes it can't be helped. I arrived 15 to 20 minutes before they opened on a Friday morning, and a line of several people had already started to form outside the door. Once the doors opened, the line still extended outside for a bit while the front of the line used the terminal just inside the door to check in. If you are not comfortable with standing outside for a while no shade or shelter or seating of any kind outside, weather would be an important factor I recommend either not showing up early, or staying in your car until the line starts to clear up. Some people from the line were admitted via a separate entrance after an agent called for people there for practical driving exams not what i was there for. Once inside, the terminal to check in was just a couple of buttons on a screen indicating what you were there for, and take a ticket and wait to be called. I had to wait maybe 20 minutes before being called, and I was probably close to the middle of the line that had formed before they opened. Chatted with a couple of the other people who were also waiting. A few people were called up who clearly had made appointments which dragged out the ticket numbers taken by those who arrived with no appointment like me I witnessed a few people leaving a bit frustrated because they had not brought necessary documents. I renewed my driver's license and asked some questions about Real ID, answers came easy. A credit card was acceptable for payment. An eye exam was required because of my age. New photo taken. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes between being called up and being all done. I recommend doing a little research ahead of time call or go online to be sure you bring what you need, be prepared to wait, and consider making an appointment to cut down that wait time.
they need to hire more people, hire competent test examiners without a superiority complex, fix their website, and maybe assign someone to handle calls... we all get that DMV is purgatory but this one seems to make it their mission to make it that much worse.
Long wait. How surprising. However the people working managed to keep the lines moving. Very courteous and helpful.
31 people ahead of me, hour and 20 minutes to get to me. Moved alot more quickly than I had assumed it would. They are very quick, knowledgeable and efficient. Excellent at getting it done.

Horrible! I’m addressing to you, DMV of Bangor. You have incompetent staff who are racists too!!! As soon as I entered the building, I took a ticket with the number. I was waiting for more than an hour! The blond lady who was working at the window next to the entrance started helping people. But … she decided who she wanted to help. When I came to the window and made a remark that she helps the people who just came and doesn’t help those who have been waiting for a long time, she replied: I decide here who to help first. Have a seat! Absolutely rude, unprofessional and disrespectful behavior. Shame on you to hire people like this! Shame on your staff!!! All of them witnessed the incident but nobody said anything. This happened on 04/15/2022
had a 11:45 appointment this is the way to go great customer service in and out in no time no long wait by just walking in
Other than the long 2 1/2 hour wait should have made an appointment, the service was great!
