Labor day weekend 2023. This camp is clean and well maintained. The nightly entertainment was great. Friday is karaoke and Sunday is the drag show. The fireworks after the show were amazing. The front desk staff was helpful and kind. Mark and James helped correct an issue I had at the Cafe. Very efficient staff. Even on a busy holiday weekend. Thank you. Restrooms: Tastefully remodeled. Clean and very well maintained.
Recently remodeled shower houses with all new tile and fixtures. Food truck and well kept grounds with subtly lit trails for late night walks around the campground . Very tranquil - worth a visit!
Hi everyone, M&M here, Mike and Maxx giving you the latest update on campgrounds along the East Coast and now the Midwest. Recently, we tented at Camp Buckwood in Morgantown Indiana for 3 weeks. Yes, 3 weeks of fun tent camping. Here is our evaluation: Staff - Very friendly, respectful, and helpful: [Rating is 5/5] The Bear Gulch Tent Area – all tent sites are in a beautiful, wooded area with plenty of shade and walkable paths. If you are bringing a large or small group of friends, you will have plenty of room to set up and enjoy the area. We have a 10-man tent and Canopy and had more than enough room at our site; there is also electricity at each site. The fire pits were made of stone circles, perfect for tent campers to grab a chair and be social. The facilities had access to firewood and ice at a very reasonable cost. Fellow campers were very respectful with the "Quiet Hours" at times: [Rating is 4/5] Planned Activities were great in the Dance Hall & Pool Areas. The pools and hot tubs were fantastic and open 24/7, which is nice for night swimming and relaxing: [Rating is 5/5] Tent Camping Pricing - The weekday & weekend sites priced extremely well, especially for solo or couples on a budget. [Rating is 5/5] The bathroom facilities - Shockingly, they were top notch. Very clean and restocked daily. We tested the water pressure, hot water cycle, cleanliness, & enjoyed the spacious shower and clean stall areas. The outdoor showers are incredible. [Rating is 5/5] The landscaping was beautiful and very well kept. The Lake area, colorful flowers and plants were a perfect distraction. On a special note, Camp Buckwood has its own Wellness program offering scheduled massages by Allan J. He does an incredible job with massage and the soothing music and outdoor landscape melts the stress away. The Outdoor Hazards were very little. We would have the occasional raccoon tear open a bag of trash. The outdoor hiking trails were great and lit up at night for the nighttime hikers. Some areas of the trails did get a little muddy, but manageable. The biggest concern I had was the number of hornets and bees around the outdoor showers and pool. I’m allergic to bees, it was reported that a hornet nest was on the trail next to the lake. I saw someone stung hiking in front of me, so I turned back, thank goodness. I hope the ground crew took care of it. [Rating is 4/5] I must say, out of all the gay campgrounds that Maxx and I have been to 10+ & counting, Camp Buckwood is an ideal place to camp. They also offer cabins, RV spots, and a lodge for individuals not into tent camping. Final Rating: 28/30, 93% A-Rating
Great people, beautiful camp, calm relaxing & fun!
Owners and website admin are rude and have a strict policy of only sharing positive statements. Will not accept constructive criticism. The campsite itself is okay. Meeting other campers is a plus and I have enjoyed a couple of visits there. Unfortunately, I was booted from their group site for voicing a minor complaint in the middle of what was an overall positive review. A bit of an overreaction that let me know that I was no longer welcome there. I will not be returning.
Always such an amazing time whenever we pull down to Buckwood! Have been tent camping here for 2 years and this is our first season with our camper. 37’er and every spot we’ve been to has been INCREDIBLY easy. If you aren’t comfortable or need help Ben literally asks every single trailer if they want help parking it whether directing or parking it for you. So incredibly sincere and sweet. It’s always a sad day Sunday morning as we pack up camp and leave this home away from home. Thank you to every single person working to make every weekend special to those who come. See you in a few weekends!
Extremely friendly and very well run. There’s a little bit of everything for everyone. Brings in a mixture of Men who are all there to relax get to know each other and have a great time. The grounds are amazing with 2 pools, oversized hot tub And a small spring fed lake I’ve escaped on a floating raft for an afternoon nap several times Many nature trails and themed get togethers and parties for the weekends. The nearby town of Nashville is a very cute “Artist Colony” I Highly recommend visiting Broward County State Park ... hiking trails/ lakes and multi experience level mountain bike trails. Hard to believe this is Indiana.
This little gem is the perfect way to unwind from the normal daily stresses. The staff and campers are all welcoming and it felt comfortable.
I needed to update this review. It was 4 years since going to Buckwood and there are many things still the same like how friendly the staff is and how clean they keep it. What has changed is the amount of upgrades that has happened. They now have two pools and amazing hot tub and updated area where you can relax in an indoor hammock and watch a movie or a live show. I can’t believe a place like this exists in Indiana.
I have been going to Camp Buckwood for now for 15 years. It is friendly, clean, entertaining, and safe. They have clean showers, a huge hot tub, and now two pools. A nice lake and trails to walk with awesome scenery. You can go tent camping, cabin camping, RV and Camper, and they have a lodge with various style rooms. The staff is the best. Always friendly and helpful. You can always go and have a great time. Party till the cows come home or relax in peace and quiet. It is what you make it so go to have a good time without any judgements ! Holidays are always packed so plan way ahead, you will need reservations.
