It is under semi-construction and updating its cabins with better interior and air conditioning. It is being done in the, so to speak, off season and should not even interfere with reservations should they come at this time. I have known the caretaker Larry Tullock for over 50 years and was given a tour of the construction and premises. Having been in construction most of my life I was well impressed by the "refurbishing" of the cabins. There is a swimming pool available... for "in season" swimming. Cherokee is a family oriented camping and my understanding built by and for the babtist organization. Other "religious" organizations should follow this example. The property is well taken care of summer and winter. Being back off the interstate I-75 one would think it would be gravel roads. But the opposite here. Nice roads from the interstate and easily accessible by a "church" bus if the need be. The access into Camp Cherokee is somewhat narrower. But only adds to the essence or the property. There would be no problem taking a bus into the property. Myself riding a Goldwing motorcycle had no problems anywhere on the property turning around. I add this for the understanding there is no really loose gravel. That is also well maintained also. It is quiet and what one would expect from such a place. No noise from the interstate or the road turned off of.
Camo Cherokee is something j look forward to every year. It is a place dear to my heart and one of my favorite places on the planet. It's amazing how God works at Camp. It's proof are God is an awesome God.
