Candlewood Suites Miami Airport - Doral

This review is coming from a Sonesta Employee who recently stayed at this hotel. I must say I'm extremely disappointed in the ENTIRE front desk staff. My check-in process was horrible. I booked with my special rate and was given the run around to even check-in. Every hotel doesn't educate their staff on having the "employee letter" to check in. But we are also trained that if the guest can prove it--Just check them in. I showed my work email on my phone and opened "workday" app to prove that I'm an ACTIVE employee. Which is clearly the proof. So why let a guess sit at the front desk going through the hassle of having all these app issues when you could have checked me in.. in the first 10mins. Also I booked a room for my family under my name & added the family member name to the reservation because I knew he would be in town at a later date. Well when my family member showed up. The front desk attendant act as if she couldn't find his name as an accompany guest to my reservation. Again now my family member is at the desk going through hoops because your staff don't know how to do a simple guest search by name. The front desk isn't empowered to make decisions on their own. They kept going to the back saying "let me ask my manager" That lets me know that Management either don't trust their staff which is a reflection on poor management training. Or he just likes to be a micro manager. This staff would not last in my market because they are untrained and don't know how to make sound decisions on their own. The goal is to make sure the check-in process is smooth and easy. But your staff did the complete opposite.

Will hold your deposit for over a month to return. Hotel is in a good location, customer service is not on par with other hotels in the area. Positive is they have free use of laundry facilities. But, really you can't hold deposits for over 30 days to return.Rooms: 2/5

I got there, and it took about 10min of the person on the phone with someone checking the computer, I asked if there was am issue and was immediately told no 2min into his convo. I waited no problem, then got told there was 1 room left, but some cleaning crew had to come into the room the following day twice to clean the carpets ans the air conditioner. Can't make this up..they didn't want to upgrade to honor the reservation so I left and went else where. Can't comment on the rooms, but it looked old when I went to check in and ultimately It was a blessing not staying there. I dont have many if any negative reviews I post here but it needed to be done!

Great location, very accessible to shopping malls, places to eat and public transport. The hotel also offers pick up and drop offs to and from Miami Int'l airport and transportation to areas in close proximity. The driver Barbara is just an absolute gem. She was so friendly, she was indeed the highlight of my stay. She is pleasant and very effecient in her duties. Loved her.

Truly a terrible experience. Booked through a third party weeks before traveling to Miami and they turned us away saying they’re overbooked. They still charged us for the room. We disputed the charge through our credit card but because it was a “he said she said” situation and the hotel blamed us for arriving past the check-in time even though we called in advance and said we would be late, we lost the dispute and had to pay the hotel charge. Terrible terrible experience.

My family and I had a great time at the Sonesta Simply Suites. The space was just like a mini studio apartment equiped with a fridge, sink with dishes, a dishwasher, microwave, and stove with tools & utencils. There was also Free wash and dry which was super convenient having a toddler! The price of the rooms here for the value is great. Nearby activities: Collins ave is 30-45min away Safety: Safe area and hotel enterances are all room key operated. Walkability: Walking distance to main road with gas stations and smoke shops. Food & drinks: Snack and beverage station available. A few resturants like Denny's and The Original Pancake House are near by also!

Beware, thieves work at this hotel! Stayed here and left my AirPods in my room and didn’t realize it until 30 min after we checked out. Tracked them using my iPhone and it showed they were still in that building. Called and told the lady at the front desk that I left them in my room huge mistake giving them a heads up I was coming back. I showed up half an hour later and she said they couldn’t find anything in the room seemed unbelievable to me because I left the case and all, but I was understanding with them. She let me back in the room to look for myself but they were definitely not where I left them. I wasn’t sure what to do so I left them my number and asked them to call if they showed up. I knew they were in that building and suspected an employee pocketed them, but obviously I can’t do anything without proof so I left empty handed. I kept an eye on their location through tracking on my phone and sure enough within a few hours they were moving down the road. Those AirPods were in my room, and the only people that went in there between when I checked out and when I came back were employees, so obviously an employee stole them. All I know is their shift was on Sunday, November 27 sometime between late morning and early afternoon between 11AM to 12PM and they live in the 14900s building of SW 9th Ln, Miami FL 33194 I know this because this is where my AirPods ended up. I hope someone at the company reads this and can see which of your employees lives at this address and they lose their job over some AirPods that can’t even be used anyway because they’ve been marked stolen and locked.

Very basic room. Nothing spectacular. Kind of dirty. Knocked on the door an hour before check out time and asked if I was checking out yet, which was kind of rude.Rooms: 3/5
