This park is quite spacious, accommodating, and adequately maintained. There are paths available for bicycling, walking, and jogging. Along the paths are several benches for relaxing, sightseeing, and resting. Several playgrounds are on site that accommodate for different age ranges. Covered picnic areas with grilling stations and lots of seating assist with larger parties and venues, such as birthdays or family barbecues. Other barbecue stations are available in open areas in close proximity to picnic benches for further convenience. There is plenty of space throughout the park for a variety of activities, such as kite flying, playing catch, tossing a frisbee, or whatever else requires a bit of open space. Ample trees are strewn about the area for natural shade as well as to bolster the appearance of the grounds. The waterways along the paths and bridges provide another great touch, as fishing is acceptable, but the water is a bit murky in areas and fish carcasses tarnish the experience just a bit. This park would be perfect for a movie in the park experience, picnics, catching some rays, chilling in the hammock, or kid friendly activities i.e. tag, hide-and-seek, remote controlled cars, etc.. There is definitely room for improvement, but overall it offers just about every aspect that you could expect from a neighborhood family park. Playground: There are multiple playgrounds that will accommodate for various age ranges. Restrooms: There are restrooms available in the back of the picnic area #3. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome, but it is a customary and courteous act to pick up dog waste. Picnic area: There are several covered picnic areas as well as open areas with picnic tables.
Lots of space, multiple playground areas. There were people fishing and the water was clean and clear. There were also some heavy duty cornhole boards. Great place for the kids to burn some energy!
We live really close to canyon lake Park and have been going there since we were little kids. It's probably the nicest park within Rapid City, they have really good play areas for little kids and they have really good picnic areas for birthday parties and such. We don't fish there, but a lot of people do and people seem to catch pretty big trout out of there It's fed by Rapid Creek which then continues to run through Rapid City after a canyon lake. On Tuesday nights in the summertime, they have a food truck night which is really nice. Playground: They have a couple of good playgrounds. Restrooms: Plenty of restrooms. Dog-friendliness: Dogs are welcome but they must be on a leash, there is a dog park right by here though Picnic area: Plenty of picnic areas, and picnic cabins that you can reserve.
One of the most beautiful parks I’ve ever seen. When it is covered with snow, it looks like a winter wonderland. There was a perfect little hill for sledding too.
This is such a calming serene place in South Dakota. There are little parks for the kids. There is also a few lakes and ducks to feed
It's much nicer now that they've cracked down on people feeding the waterfowl. Previously there was such a mess from the birds and people feeding them, it was pretty gross. Now it seems to be cleaner and the water is not quite as disgusting. Seems like there's a decent amount of fish. The playground equipment is in good shape. A nice place to take your dog for a walk. Remember to obey the leash laws! Playground: Multiple playground equipment areas with lots to do. Restrooms: Seasonal restrooms are not open year round. Dog-friendliness: Obey the leash laws and this is a lovely place to walk the dog. Picnic area: Great picnic areas. Multiple shelters for gatherings.
The lake kind of smells bad. But except that, everything is beautiful.
Had a family reunion here. It's beautiful and the pavilions have 2 grills built in. Playground: We did not have any kids with us but there was a playground next to the pavilion and we saw kids on it. Looked like they were having a blast. Restrooms: One stall in each bathroom but they are pretty nice . Dog-friendliness: Saw lots of dogs out and about.
Beautiful spot. There were flowers, ducks and fish when I visited, not to mention the geese and the beautiful trees. Also, families having their professional photos taken, artists painting, children playing, families celebrating, people fishing and many others just enjoying the day at the park.
Really cool park in Rapid. And great place to kayak on the small lake!
