Carilion Clinic Family Medicine- Blacksburg

Horrible experience: and the 2nd time this has happened: waited for more than an hour, had to leave to get my child. At least this time they refunded my copay! I've been with them for almost 20 years, but these recent interactions and the phone wait to schedule an appointment are outright awful!!

We’ve been with them since 2008 and they have been totally professional and accommodating. I truly trust and love Dr Call, the best physician I’ve had ever.

Came for an appointment yesterday and ended up sitting in the waiting room for nearly an hour so I just got up and left! Highly disappointing! If Dr was running behind then at least let the patient know instead of acting like the patient's time and needs does not matter. Will be going elsewhere for my future healthcare needs.

My doctor's office, another Carilion facility stopped taking new patients when my daughter aged out of her pediatrician's practice and my new husband relocated to the area, this office was taking new patients so we scheduled both of them here assuming they would get the same level of care and service I get at the other office. That has not been the case. The receptionist has been rude, the nurse was rude to my daughter and made her feel like she was an inconvenience when she really needed advice, it took almost two months to get my husband's lab results and prescriptions. The office just seems to be disorganized or overwhelmed or both. At this point we are hoping the other practice will start taking new patients again so they can get the care they need elsewhere.

I waited in the office for 1 hour and 45 minutes and only had 5 minutes with the doctor. She was in such a hurry to leave I felt completely unheard and left with no solutions. I will never go to this office again. Clearly they’re overbooking.

I have been coming here for a few years now and I love this facility. All of the doctors I have seen have been very thorough and don't herd you like sheep. Everyone that I talk to is super sweet and caring. Debbie on the appointments line is one of the sweetest people I believe I have ever had the pleasure of working with at a doc office.

I've enjoyed coming here for the past year, I have met a team that treat me very well, like they care and like I actually matter. I'm saddened because the wonderful N.P. I have been seeing has decided to advance her career in medicine and I have a new to the office N.P. so far she seems pretty good. I'm definitely missing my old N.P, but I think I'm going to enjoy getting to know my new one

Good experience with all the doctors, which is totally offset by the remaining staff acting like it's either their first or last day on the job. Would give 0 stars if I could.

Let me start off by saying that every physician here has an obvious passion for their patients. They listen well and always offer advice not only on the current situation but when to follow up and what symptoms to look out for. My physician is Dr. Mertes and he is wonderful. He really makes sure you understand the medical decisions happening and will answer any and all questions. HOWEVER, if you chose Blacksburg Carilion be aware that your appointment will take AT LEAST an hour. If not longer. My most recent appointment is a perfect example of the wait times to be expected. I arrived 15 minutes before my appointment so that I could be checked in and possibly seen by the nurses before my actual appointment time. This never happens. I'm not sure why I bother showing up early anymore. I was taken back by nursing staff 7 minutes after my appointment time. After the usual weight/blood pressure/temperature the nurse takes me to the patient room. I was not seen by a doctor until 42 minutes after my "appointment time". The doctor proceeded and this was not my usual Dr. Murtis to spend 4 minutes with me before having the nurse explain the instructions for my take home medications. I know these doctors are overworked and it is not their fault. Just wanted to stress to anyone considering this office that you will need to allot a large amount of time to each and every appointment.

I have called multiple times in the past few days to get an appointment set up, I've been on hold for 15+ minutes each time. I give it three stars just because other than trying to get a hold of this clinic I have no knowledge of them personally. Please add an option to leave a voicemail/email so that the employees can call us back later/set up appointments on website
