The purpose of the Parks and Recreation Department, is to provide the citizens of Carlisle with a variety of year-round recreational programs, and to secure and maintain adequate parks and open space to meet the needs of the community.
The department is a full service municipal agency that operates the Carlisle Community Pool, the Stuart Community Center, and administers the Borough of Carlisle Shade Tree program. The Carlisle Parks and Recreation Department owns and/or maintains 16 park areas, the municipal building and other facilities totaling more than 175 acres of park land for the community. In addition, the department provides recreational programs and services for all ages such as pre-school programs, dance classes, sport leagues, fitness programs, special needs classes, day camps, bus trips, craft classes, summer concerts, and more.
Since a quality park and recreation service is very important to a community, the Carlisle Parks and Recreation Department will continually assess the parks and recreation programs, make adjustments where necessary, and work with other public and private recreation providers to offer the residents of the community the finest leisure services program possible with the available resources.
