I'm leaving this review for Dr. Brugger at the Summerville nexton location.. I was told my Dr was new, They were less than professional to say the least.. The whole ordeal was frightening. So much so that I'd rather go blind in my right eye than to see this doctor ever again. 3 months later I still can't see in that eye. No stated diagnosis. Nothing more than single word answer when I ask a question. Please spend the time now to find another doctor, please don't wait till you read this more than once. As stated I'm leaving my comment here because he's so new no Web site. Please NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS FOR DR:BRUGGER AND HIS WHOLE STAFF. This guy has a very angry disposition. He is terrifying. Not much frightens me at my age. And he's scares me completely. I still have nightmares.
I made an appointment two months in advance only to have them call me a week before my appointment to tell me that it was cancelled because the clinic was closed. I couldn’t get back in for a month and a half. Poor organization!
They are always pleasant and helpful! They are very concerned about taking care of your eyes ... communication is very important to them.
Terrible check in procedure. I had to go up and remind the front desk that I actually signed in. The girl doing my eye exam had around a year experience in doing an exams and I got an off-the-wall result. Totally different than what I got the previous year from a different doctor. I cannot believe they allow a less than optometrist to do your eye exam. The doctor was rude and dismissive and Condescending. How do you trust the doctor that pretty much tells you you don’t have what you’ve been told by previous doctors over and over that you have. I can’t see and I feel like I have the need to get another eye exam from somewhere else to get the correct prescription so I could actually get glasses so I could see again. I came away with a prescription that says I have 2020 vision. I don’t think I’ve ever had 2020 vision in my entire life. What a joke of an office. Summerville location.
This was my first trip for anything but glasses and first visit to the office…felt very comfortable about issues at hand the plan to fix them. Best trip to a medical office in decades! Highly recommended!
I’m a first time patient and my appointment was yesterday. I went in did the paperwork and they saw me probably 10 mins after. The lady that scanned my eye was really nice and my doctor was nice as well. Answered questions I had and everything. This is a great place to go.
My experience very professional. Everybody was very nice and explained everything to me very well . I’m glad I got to meet everyone and I’m glad that I picked Carolina I care. I will be seeing you in the future. To have some surgery done thank you.
Had testing May 9th. It is June 3rd and I still haven't received my results.
The office staff is not friendly nor professional, sadly. I submitted all of my information online before my “1st ever visit”, at 12:30 appt on 08/01/22. I got there at 11:25am early as I live a hour and a half away & wasn’t sure where I was going. I went inside the office, the office was clean & I do appreciate cleanliness immensely. I asked if they were "running ahead" and was told they were going to lunch & I was the "first" appointment at 12:30pm. As an employee in a Dr office who’s used EClinical Works & makes appointments for several Doctors I understand scheduling so I left & I was back in the office at 12:25pm. As one who works behind the desk myself in several roles & who is also a patient of other Dr’s I am very observant & understanding of being “professional & appreciating each patient”- it starts as soon as a patient walks to the doors. Sadly, the Check In staff were all very unprofessional, dismissive of patients sitting, they were still drinking & chewing food, they were clearly loud as I heard them talking about their home lives, their children’s sleep schedules, etc.. and they were in no hurry to help nor make the patients waiting any priority. I sat in the waiting room until 12:55pm, I watched others get called back before me though I was told, “You will be the 1st appt at 12:30pm”. I understand when an office has several PCP’s/Providers, etc some people do get called back before others. Still, professionalism is going the extra step to say, “Mr or Mrs ___, you are checked in, it will be a few more minutes, Thank you for understanding”. This did not happen. When I was finally called back by Jasmine, who works for Dr. Grice, she was excellent! I am very thankful for her professional and fun personality and work ethic/attitude. When I met Dr. Whittington I was overjoyed & thankful, as she is WONDERFUL & I greatly appreciate her taking so much time & her concern for my eyes & the issues with them. Again & unfortunately, at the Check Out desk I once again encountered an unprofessional worker, one who was busy talking with other coworkers & moreover she could not define what the term "co-insurance" even means. So I ended up paying more than I was told on the phone by the insurance clerk when I made this appointment back in June 2022. **I was told in June when the appointment was made via phone & I gave my insurance information that I would need to pay a $50 copay + $60 for the refraction that insurance does not cover. I was expecting to pay $110, ended up paying $138 & the checkout worker said she had no clue why I was paying $28.00 more & honestly she did not care. Also, I was told I would need to come back in 1 month & she did not ask me if the appointment date & time worked for my schedule or not, handed me my receipt & next appointment & that was it. Finally, the appointment I was given was 6 weeks out, not 4. These things matter to people!! Also, during the check out process once again there was too much "chit chat" and rude staff members up front talking about their personal lives. I will go back again because I truly appreciate Dr. Whittington; unfortunately, I do not look forward to the faces at the front. They need to learn manners, how to be courteous, how to put themselves in the patient’s shoes, and mostly what great Customer Service & the value of professionalism is- they are the foundation of the office, the 1st faces that set the tone for a patient as well as being detrimental in keeping the worker’s jobs & the success of the office! I'd score Jasmine an “A” for being so personable and professional, Dr Whittington an “A+” , she is the best Optometrist I have ever met. The Check In/Check Out staff score an “F”, a zero. I look forward to Dr Whittington in my journey to having corrective vision, and I do not look forward to the Check In or Out phase.
It was a quick and painless procedure. The only detractor from giving it 5 stars was there insistence on wearing those stupid useless masks. Please get rid of this nonsensical policy, its so irritating.
