This was on a weekday mid day I had to go in for my stomach pain that ended up being Diverticulitis. Check in was swift, was taken into one of the many rooms they had, nurse was very polite and empathetic, doctor was funny, charming, empathetic as well throughout the whole process. They explained what could be and what they will perform, and checked in with me often. This was my very first emergency room visit, and I was very happy with the visit and the result.
Absolutely appalled by my experience at the hospital. Then got slapped with a $1,200 bill for them to not help my symptoms, make me wait 9 hours in very bad pain, had to transfer me to a different hospital because they didn’t have the proper staff, and took almost 4 hours just to see an actual doctor. I was actively having a miscarriage and they did NOTHING for me. Also made me wait in the public waiting room while in absolute distress because I was losing my baby. I basically was grieving in a room full of strangers. Couldn’t even give me a private place to wait. Then they never even gave me confirmation that I was experiencing a miscarriage because they didn’t have an ultrasound tech there that day. They should have sent me to Berkeley Medical Center upon my arrival. Screw this hospital, no wonder so many of my friends/people I’ve known over the years have died under the care of this hospital. They can’t help you, you’re better off at urgent care.
I wish I could review the special care unit separately. Had to visit nearly every department of the hospital, receiving horrible treatment throughout the facility. Patients are treated so inhumane it's disgusting. From the check in desk up front, in the ER, nurses, doctor's, even security. ZERO compassion. HOWEVER, that all changed once in the special care unit... So thankful for the nurses and doctors in that department who listened and put our needs first. Especially one named Lori who deserves a raise and all other nurses should be trained by her
All of my doctors except my derm is through WVU Medicine. In all the moves I have done, and many doctors seen, I have never had such great care from such a kind staff. When I have to go get labs done, the staff is nothing but amazing and helpful even with my hard to find veins. I am so happy with my doctors and all the staff we have met between myself and my husbands medical needs. Moving to such a small town, I was worried about my care, but I have been nothing but surprised and happy with everyone I have encountered. I went to get a glucose test and labs done today, registration is nothing short of awesome and helpful to not only patients, but to each other to make sure they are learning correctly. I am always happy with the care I receive when getting blood draws and I love the staff and how comfortable they are with what appears to be a healthy work environment. Whatever you are doing to keep your staff happy, please continue to do so, and please listen to them should they have concerns about the quality of care should something change. I cannot stress enough with how happy I am with my medical care and hope it continues with the Jefferson Medical Center - WVU Medicine.
Have had multiple visits to their lab, ER and surgery. At all times I received professional and courteous care with the only exception being an ER nurse who was awful. Everyone else is exceptional.
After two separate recent visits, I proceeded to the radiology department after a quick check-in and was able to complete my scheduled appointment without any wait time and quick and efficient care. All staff were very welcoming and friendly.
A lot of complaints about ER visits. We've been twice and were seen immediately. Obviously, triage dictates level of care and how fast you're attended too. My daughter had an appendectomy at Jefferson Medical Center and my son had his appendix removed at Loudoun. Hands down, Jefferson was the better experience! The staff was INCREDIBLE! We really appreciate them constantly checking in on us. We were apprehensive because they did not have a pediatric surgeon on staff, however, we were assured that our daughter would be taken care. And they delivered. Again, our experience at Loudoun was just ok. You mainly hear nothing but complaints when it comes to medical care, however, I've worked in multiple hospitals and understand the hard work these individuals go thru and the staff deserve to hear the good as well! So thank you from our family. We would highly recommend this facility.
I received EXCELLENT service at Jefferson Memorial Hospital for outpatient surgery. From the front desk, nurses, doctor & anesthesiologist. The world has changed since COVID, there are staff shortages everywhere. We must learn patience all over again. If you don’t understand something a doctor/nurse says then ask.If you’re in pain & waiting, ask for pain meds.
Two stars only because most of the staff did their job without any apparent problems. But the ER doctor sounded like a complete quack. Something along the lines of "Just believe that vegetables will taste good or not make you sick, and they won't." Yeah, and I'm sure if I just believe a bottle of cyanide won't kill me, then it won't, right? Has he never heard of anything like allergies to take into account? Digestive issues? Or even things like genetics impacting taste sensory? I have a long history of digestive issues. And I may be mildly allergic to things like bell peppers, considering the tendency of them to make me vomit. Even when something like my cheeseburger is only cross contaminated by the bell pepper vapors from the same grill. But onions, I've come to like a bit more after resolving at lot of my acid reflux issue. And then there's all the times I was convinced something would be fine or terrible experience, only to have the opposite surprise me. Mind over matter is indeed a thing, but so is physically measurable objective science. The actual issue never even really got addressed by him, just the same basic life changes urgent care said two days earlier. I swear doctors never read the nurses' notes at all. The core issue was a swollen area getting worse so rapidly. I started some OTC medicine I never used before Monday afternoon. And as usual, I never read the possible side effects or warning, so if something does go wrong, my mind is clear of why and results in investigation rather than speculation. The medicine should relive pain and swelling, however after a day and half, I experienced substantially more swelling and pain. The pain spread beyond the isolated region I experienced the past week before the medicine one single spot and strip of flesh combo. Now the pain was traveling in various directions, all different manner of pain types, half I wasn't even having before. The warning on the medicine is, if you experience increased and/or new symptoms, stop using it. I'm quite possibly allergic to it. Maybe I should believe I'm not and that will solve everything.
I don't understand all the negative comments. We have the flu, and my husband was taken by ambulance to the ER, and I can't say anything but good regarding his care in the ambulance, and then care he received in the ER. I am an RN, so I know what to look for. His nurse was wonderful and attentive, and then Nurse Practitioner who saw him was thorough, kind, and pdofessional. As an ICU RN, I know what labs, etc., need to be done, and they did them all. The X-ray Technician was also great. Health. Are professionals are under a horrible amount of stress. Be kind.
