The food was good but the chicken was cold. It wasn’t as hot as it could’ve been and I usually prefer my chicken to be Piping hot the sides were hot though we also wanted grilled chicken but that had to be replaced and stayed with fried chicken because they ran out also only having two drink choices of sierra mist, or fruit punch. I wanted a strawberry lemonade. Unfortunately there was nothing else to drink but other than that, the atmosphere was top-notch the music was on point and the clientele is friendly would definitely recommend going back for the chicken and waffles. If it’s not good, you’ll be hearing from me again but I’m sure it will be stay updated.
I ordered the chicken dinner dark, and my friend ordered waffles and chicken. Our chicken was completely dried out as if it were in a microwave for too long. The waffles were dry, and had a cardboard feel and tasted horrible. The beans& rice were extremely bland, the cornbread was dry and bland, and the greens were 90% stalk and 10% leaf. The sweet potatoes we ok. On top of that, the waitress only came to our table once after our food came. We actually had to flag down another waiter to pay our bill when she dropped the check off. I will not recommend this to a friend. And I will not return to this establishment.
We had a pleasant experience at the restaurant. There were some downfalls on the service side, cause it was very slow, and we waited 50 minutes till the server realized that she messed up our order, and it didn’t reach the kitchen. And in the meantime, no refill of coffee or other interactions. Against that the food was quite good. I liked the greens the most, as they were heavily and good seasoned. The Chicken was perfectly fried, just the waffle could have had some more flavor - it fell flat against the other dishes. Also the cornbread was extremely dry, some little moisture would soften it up and be more pleasant to eat, then just picking up dry crumbs. If the service and minor food issues are fixed, the restaurant is definitely up for a five star rating.
A random find, but so glad we stopped in. Everyone was really friendly and the food was fantastic. The waffles are fresh and delicious and the chicken is so tender. I got mine smothered and the gravy was delicious. Hubby was thrilled they had gizzards on the menu and it was a huge serving too. Parking: There is some street parking right next to the restaurant, but also a gravel lot across the street.
The service was very good . The atmosphere was nice. Clean restaurant. The food was okay. The smothered chicken was quite smothered chicken, it was fried chicken with gravy poured over it right before it was bought to the table. The mac and cheese was delicious . Immaculate Black American comfort food. No complaints at all for the kitchen. Southern style Collars Greens, quick seasoned Fried Chicken, Cajun gravy Red Beans and Rice… with meat in all the veg. Vegans look elsewhere Slight hiccups on service ~25-40min order to table, and this was on a slower day. On weekends expect to wait ~30min to be seated.
I ordered 2 waffles and a chicken wing dinner with Mac. The waffles were buy one get one and I can see why. When my niece opened the box the waffle was cold and hard. She tried to cut a piece which was a task and she literally was tugging with it between her teeth and it was like leather. The Mac was old and brown. I spent 63.00 via Uber Eats which it's not their fault I paid extra for 1st delivery. What an epic waste of money. Uber refunded me the waffle price but never ever will I eat here again. 1st time and the last time!
Nice place, the food tasted good and the servers where nice. Only bad experience was when I needed to pay and they told me that it’s only cash since there is some issue with the card reader, luckily I had cash on me but I was short 50cents and I couldn’t tip the server.
I met a friend 30 minutes before closing. The food came like 5 minutes after we ordered so that might be a new hack of mine . I ordered the should fix plate The catfish was old so they made me chicken wings and they were Food: 5/5
I’m just exhausted with this restaurant and spent too much money for this food to taste the way it does. I order catfish and I just knew that was tilapia. Why would you do that? The greens tasted very salty as well. I’ve given this business countless times but this was it. If you’re going to go here understand what you’re going to get. The chicken is not bad but the wings are tiny.
