Come and visit the only full-scale replica of a Confederate ironclad gunboat in the world. Measuring 158 feet long by 34 feet wide, the vessel continues to draw visitors and newly found friends from across the United States and abroad.
The “C.S.S. Neuse II” is a full-scale reproduction of her namesake, the “Confederate States Ship Neuse” – which served during the War Between the States as an ironclad gunboat stationed in Kinston, North Carolina from March 1864 to March 1865. She rests on the southwest corner of North Herritage Street and West Gordon Street in the Kinston Shipyard. Located only a block from the Neuse River, she sits a scant distance from where her namesake was outfitted with iron plating and moored.
