Turf fields here are awful, not flat, basically rolling hills, unfit for team sports, get worse every year.
Grandson plays flag football for South suburban park, good location but we do get lots of cold air and winds top of hill
Trash fields, not level, rocks in the turf, kids having to climb over the fence constantly to fetch soccer balls... I guess that's what happens when you build fields on top of a landfill. Good idea to try and use the space this way but needed to be engineered better.
Nothing fantastic, it is a bunch of turf fields built over an old landfill. This results in many of the fields being sloped or having mini rolling hills on them. Only a couple of fields are really good to use. Location is pretty easy to get too and there are plenty of places to hang out at after a competition. Best part of the park is probably the BMX race track, I haven't used it but it looks like a great place to train.
Several fields that are usually empty. One field at the bottom has a very warped rolling field that could be challenging to play on. Porta potties and trash cans on premise. Often you will see RC pilots flying there. Great space to get out and do lots of things.
Had a nice walk in an exceptionally clean park. People here are friendly and so are their pets. Huge open space with room for all who want to enjoy these warm temps we've been experiencing. There are frisbees and kites flying, footballs being thrown, toddlers crawling and bumbling about, a cat on a leash, some guys and gals doing yoga, some joggers and picnic people too !! :
Disc golf course review: Nice course. There's a putting basket at the top where you park and hole 1. The trails and hills are fun are not extreme to walk up and down. There are helpful signs to some of the tee pads. There are patches of tall grass around and definitely potential to be all tall grass. After hole 5 is when you run Into looking for discs in the tall grass. There is a river by holes 4 and 5- potential to lose discs in the treesand bank hill.
I can only assume this space was designed by individuals who absolutely loathe dogs and their owners. Trees, grass? Nope...you won't find any of that here. Running water? None of that, either. The best I can say about this area is that it is as lacking as the space allocated to dogs at Heritage Regional Park. If it was the goal to create a miserable space to take your pet for off leash exercise, you nailed it! Head shaking.
South Suburban does a nice job of maintaining this park and we are extremely grateful to have a place like this to go to. This is a very good use of otherwise useless landfill space but there should really be some one ways and parking markers.
Just about the worst for kids’ team sports. Unless you like to get frozen by wind when it’s cold or cooked alive when it’s hot. Zero trees, zero shade, zero seating...just a blasted wasteland of fake turf and overzealous coaches living vicariously through elementary school-aged sporting events. One day, maybe, the city will invest in more than a single pavilion that seats 4 adults...
