Wonderful art exhibit! Could spend the whole day looking at everything! My only request? Cool it down a bit more. Unless it's necessary to have it at a certain temp. All those people create body heat and it got a little toasty. Otherwise a wonderful experience! Looking forward to our next trip!
This is a must when in Golden Gate Park. Entry price is reasonable. Food costs were rather expensive but you are a captive audience. Plenty to see and read. The stories behind the artists and their work is interesting. Shops are well stocked. All staff were friendly and helpful. Temporary exhibitions are available at an additional cost. Definitely worth the walk through Golden Gate Park to get there.
Highly recommended! The museum is manageable: not overwhelming and not too small. Just perfect! The cafe is good with healthy options as well as sweets and savories. The art is diverse and well curated. Loved the Faith Ringgold exhibit and the Obama portraits. The museums sculpture garden is lovely and serene with plenty of space to roam and enjoy the art. Overall, one of my favorite museums in SF!
I love this museum. Just large enough to see in one day with out getting overwhelmed by art. The Alice Neely exhibit was great, saw the bouquet of arts as well, always fun. The new exhibit on the main floor was a nice change. I didn't take photos inside, just of the observation area.
Free with cultivist me membership with capital one. Very pretty museum with a ton of different exhibits. The pharaoh one is very cool with some AR exhibits, shows, mini movies and a ton of cool artifacts. There was also some abstract art, some art from other parts of the world including papa New Guinea and then some of the classical collection as well. The cafe is nice and friendly though a bit overpriced and there’s indoor and outdoor seats as well
Being from the Bay Area means this wasn’t my first time visiting. But I thought I’d review it anyway since it’s been a while since I visited. The surrounding area around the museum is beautiful and calm. There’s a cafe with outdoor seating and a good sized souvenir shop as well. The exhibit I visited was so crowded and I just wish there was a bit more space. Otherwise there’s an underground parking garage across the way and the Japanese tea garden is within walking distance.
A stunning museum with so many adventures! Prepare to spend the entire day and be amazed. Perfect for taking the family. So many great works and lots to see and discover. One of the best in the entire US!. Enjoy and take it all in.
As a Fine Art undergrad, I spend at least 4 hours by myself to absorb the incredible art collection. The permit collection is incredible and the exhibits intriguing and current. This is a must for our appreciators. Located in Golden Gate Park. Fun and relaxing to walk through Golden Gate Park to get there.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot surePrice for adult entry$16–20
Wow! What a wonderful experience. Took my family to view The Obama portraits. Truly inspiring. So impressed, bought a membership for my daughter as a birthday gift. Used membership to visit Ramses the Great & the Gold of the Pharaohs exhibit. The level of skills used to create these pieces is amazing. Will not disappoint.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$11–15
Thus museum has a great collection of American artists' paintings and sculptures. There are historical motifs through modern art, and collections from the Pacific Islands, Africa, and a good representation of Indigenous American pieces. In addition, we were lucky to see the traveling exhibit of the official Obama portraits. These were exceptional and well worth seeing. The museum cafe has a great selection of well-prepared food to eat, and is reasonably priced.
