The Deaconess Family Medicine Residency Program is a fully accredited, community hospital-based single program institution.
The Family Medicine Residency at Deaconess Hospital serves to provide in-depth education and training in the delivery of comprehensive family-oriented health care that is consistent with the requirements for accreditation by the Residency Review Committee. Upon completion of the program, physicians are to be eligible for certification by the American Board of Family Medicine.
The Family Medicine Center serves as the model office for training the Family Medicine residents. The Center meets the design expectations of the Special Requirements for Residency Training in Family Medicine and serves to meet the educational expectations of the resident and the related health care needs of its patient population.
Both the educational and service aspects of the Residency are consistent with and crucial aspects of the mission of Deaconess Hospital.
The mission of the Residency is to:
Train family physicians to provide the high quality, cost-effective medical care necessary for productive and successful careers in family medicine.
Provide care for and improve the health and well-being of the medically and socially under-served population in our community.
Create opportunities for graduate medical education research within the tri-state.
