this place is so good, completely authentic and great priced. even for visiting the buffet toward the end of the day - the food was hot and fresh. will absolutely be back!
The pork kawali and pork lumpia were super delicious. I also tried the sinigang but didn’t really like it. The place is clean and the staff is very friendly.
Just had this place for the first time cause I was really craving lumpia and Pancit. Honestly might have been the best I’ve had. Will definitely be coming back to try the weekend buffet sometime soon.
Came for brunch and the restaurant was empty so we were serviced quickly. The food was excellent. The tapsilog was freshly made and not store bought, you can tell by how tender the pork is. And the BBQ skewers were so juicy. I would definitely recommend this place .
Good variety, several good dishes. Ok price at the buffet. Pork dishes were probably the best here, and the small rolls and soups. Dishes were intermittently restocked. There are a lot of dessert choices, but only a couple are worth the calories. There is only delivery for individually ordered dishes at the counter. They charge for all drinks in bottles, including water.
I tried a little of everything, and for the first time having Filipino food, it was so amazing. The service was great as well. The tiny pork and vegetable rolls were my main favourite thing, especially with the sweet and sour sauce. I definitely recommend this place if you want to try some phenomenal Filipino food.
Favorite place to get Filipino noodles!! Their weekend buffet has an excellent assortment of entrees to sample and learn what you like. Call ahead at least 20 minutes for carry out orders.
tl:dr I come for the weekend buffet, as it delivers the tastes of Filipino cuisine with accessibility. It's run by a friendly and welcoming couple. If you've never had Filipino food, it's similar, if not familiar, and yet very different from other Asian foods you probably know. This is not the most eye-pleasing cuisine in the world. For some, you may find organ meats in the dishes, though rarely so don't let that scare you, and most dishes are going to appeal to your tastes. Most importantly, there's a lot here to explore beyond what I have just begun to experience. I love the food of Asia. I'm willing to get individual entrees for the foods I frequent, and know well, but for the other wonderful areas of Asian cuisine, getting an opportunity to sample and explore a culture through their foods is a real treat. My son is beginning to appreciate my Asian palate, and my spouse gets full too fast to really appreciate the options, but she likes to explore. We first found out about Deco Cafe Filipiniana right before the pandemic. Actually, it may have been my wife who took note, I don't remember. For whatever reason not until very recently, we finally came around to coming back to explore. Not only is there a restaurant here, but there is also a small market at the front. There is at least 1 other Filipino place that does this that I know of, as well, so it is probably a solid business model. In the market, I conveniently found some fish sauce I had not been looking hard for but was happy to find, and my son has fallen in love with Boy Bawang Cornick, particularly the adobo flavor. Like I said, lots to explore. What's most striking, presumably due to pandemic reasons, you serve yourself onto disposable plates and bowls, with plastic forks and spoons. While it is all you can eat on weekends from the buffet, drinks are not all you can drink. They have a refrigerator with 16oz bottles of sodas, with some markup on known prices, and bottled water for a more cost-plus option. There is another refrigerator behind the restaurant-side cash register with coconut juice, and what appear to be drinks presumably from the Philippines. Tap water or brewed tea is not currently an option. There is a large rice steamer, two savory buffet stations with 6-8 options each, including soups, with a third fruit/dessert station with about 8 options. There's sweet chilli sauce for the lumpia, ketchup, and some other sauces, plus condiments like soy sauce and fish sauce on the tables. Noodles, fried rice, lots of pork, chicken, shrimp, veggies, and some fried rolls are all up for the sampling. I personally really love the real desserts -- and I'm not one to really like desserts. It's not the pre-made Sysco stuff that seems to end up at many places. The options on the buffet, if modest, are reasonable, and so are the prices, so you should never leave hungry. Deco Cafe Filipiniana started business as a coffee shop down in the art deco district on Fredericksburg Rd. They offered some Filipino stuff, and that became more popular than the coffee, and they move to their location in Leon Valley a few years back, surviving through the pandemic. I certainly am glad they did. The area around the shopping center Deco Cafe Filipiniana is in seems to be struggling post-pandemic, but back behind an unkempt Chacho's, there is this gem, that's clean, welcoming, and full of wonderful foods and culture. Not to mention a stage which obviously has the opportunity for some good times, you'll have to ask the owners about that while you're there. There are breakfast menus and menus for take out. Lots of opportunity to explore one of the wonderful Filipino spots the San Antonio area has to offer.
Small family owned business. Most authentic Filipino food I have had in awhile. Lunch buffet on weekends is way to go if your wanting to try Philippino food or just want a variety. Have adobo pancit lumpia lechon and a bunch of other staples to try. I loved the banana lumpia. They also sell trays of food for family functions and events.
That adobo taste is fire. I’ll say the same about the sweet and sour sauce. With the glass noodle pancit, gots me always coming back for more. 420 foodie approved
