I do not have reliable transportation and I did not realize they closed early on Fridays. The ladies in here were understanding of this and took care of me after hours. I am extremely grateful and they deserve the 5 stars. Thank you for being so helpful...always.
Got everything you need for class but can get very busy. They get so packed they sometimes make you sign up and call your name when it's your turn to enter. Felt odd for a book store but if you have the time to wait do it.
DO NOT BUY YOUR BOOKS HERE. Use Amazon, half price books or anything else. Return policy is ridiculous. I bought a book Monday and went to return it on Wednesday. Was not able to get MY money backnot financial aid. $140. So ridiculous!
My son rented a book that he was required to carry for a class but never even opened. When he went to return it he was told that it had two brown spots on the outer edge of the binder. He had to pay an additional fee of $170 to purchase the book in addition to the rental fee of $130 that was paid to rent to book. Essentially paying $300 for a book that he could have purchased from Amazon for $150. What an absolute rip off.
This bookstore is a surreal dominion of accusation on students for textbook damages and price gouging them. Today, I went to return my books. They charged me a gratuitous replacement fee of $109 on a textbook for a coffee stain that I did NOT do. On top of that, I became charged with a rental fee. These charges are very extreme; I do not agree with this at all. What’s funny is that I don’t even drink coffee. I told them that repeatedly in anger, but supposedly they need evidence/proof that I did not commit the damage. Clearly, they receive the books back from other students and do not replace the book themselves. Seriously, how could you not see the coffee stain before renting the book out to me? Instead, the bookstore staff ignores the damage and sells it back to another student. So, when the student returns it, the staff blames it on the student that rented the book out, and says, “Oh, this book is damaged.” And, bam, an automatic replacement fee. Go back and look at the records to see who rented it beforehand. I find this very devastating as well because students are trying to perceive an education; they choose THIS college to showcase their talents and obtain a degree. Yet, the bookstore staff aims to put a financial burden upon us, as students, for damage on a textbook that we did not commit. If I had an option, I would give this bookstore store zero stars. Do NOT buy any of your textbooks here; you can buy them much cheaper and at a reasonable price on Amazon and even Half Price Books. Also, if the bookstore gives you a damaged book, take pictures of it immediately, or notify them before paying for it.They basically want a picture of the entire book, page by page, if there is damage. It is ridiculous, I know. However, that is the requirement. Also, what do they expect for a USED textbook. Of course it’s not going to be in perfect condition, the edges will be bent, and there will be stains on the book. I am demanding an automatic refund for this inconvenience. Otherwise, I am addressing this matter further to the president of Del Mar College. This price gouging matter is the SECOND time this has happened to me. First, I got charged for the damage of the corner ends of the book and now the coffee stain. Wow, what a remarkable letter I can address to Mark Escamilla. “Del Mar College Bookstore diminishes students’ career perspectives through financial charges, generating upon a simple accusation.”
They had the book I needed that same day and it was actually surprisingly cheaper than Amazon!!
It was a mad house when I was there recently, but none the less everything went smooth and organized. Was good to see people doing a little extra to get things taken care of. The online order feature was a great idea as well.
What a beautiful atm and impeccable school to learn from.
Never have a good experience here...which is why I get my stuff online if at all possible!
I had dialysis the last day of return. The lady with glasses idk who she was but she was beyond rude. Once she said I couldn’t return, I asked if there was anyone else I can talk to. She goes “No, only me” However it turns out there is someone else, above her.
