It is with great pleasure that I write you today to announce my new position as Gallery Director for Dennis Rae Fine Art, located in the old “Art On Main” gallery, located at 1359 Main St., right next to Model Bakery.
We will be launching our new venture together, with our first event - “ELEMENTAL”, an exhibition featuring two artists, Bernard Weston and Ronald Jermyn, who embody the vision of our new esthetic. The exhibition opens on in May 16th and will run through June 30th 2014.
Having recently re-done the interior of the gallery space, removing old linen and crown molding from the walls and going bright white all the way from floor to ceiling, the fresh interior lends itself to larger contemporary paintings and sculptures.
One of my commitments as the new director will be to include more artwork from local artists. Each artist will be selected for not only their special talents and originality, but also their compatibly with the gallery esthetic.
Dennis Rae Fine Art offers a series of events throughout the year, including exhibitions with featured artists’ as well as our special “Guest Artist” series beginning this summer. To kick off the season for this series will be artist Rolinda Stotts, showcasing her textured wood paintings in July and for Wine Art enthusiasts, welcome Thomas Arvid as our “Guest Artist” in August.
We will be following this with an exhibition opening in September, featuring two new artists who work in the North Bay Area; James Moore, sculptor with a serious local reputation, and Francesco Cafiso, painter and mosaic artist, originally from Italy and now residing just north of the Napa Valley.
As we continue to develop our curatorial calendar through the year, our hope is that we will become a destination for both local and worldwide collectors who visit our beautiful town.
