Welcome to the Desert Discovery Center, home of the Old Woman Meteorite and where environmental learning is FUN!
We are a 7,000 square foot visitor center surrounded by 12 acres of public land located in Barstow in the heart of the high desert just off the I15.
The Desert Discovery Center hosts environmental education programs throughout the year with an event calendar packed with fun projects for kids and adults including art workshops, gardening seminars, desert field trips, school environmental programs, film night, archaeology classes and so much more!
We house a myriad of exhibits including the famous “Old Woman Meteorite” which inspires and amazes visitors from around the world.
A native plant and animal habitat is also housed in the secret garden and pond area where visitors can enjoy the peaceful environment with art installations and meet our popular resident tortoises.
