The three stars is not for the customer service cause the circulation workers were attentive and amazing. It not even for the loud security guard whom I know more about than I'd like to know. No the three stars are for the fact in all these years they have no caught up to modern times. The place looks just as it did 20 years ago. How? There is a new police stations heavy renovations at city hall but the library the cornerstone of the community for resources and information has been so grossly neglected. The three stars is the facts that more funding needs to be designated to the library to make it look and feel more modern and welcoming.
The board / staff are probably among the most incompetent librarians in Bergen and Essie counties. After an exhaustive review of several libraries in the area I have come to this conclusion. Even at their board meetings they will not allow you to speak. I highly recommend that you try another library before you consider East Orange library as your home library. You will be astounded at how much more professional other libraries are.
Quietly perfect but it does have it's set back first let dive in . Admission to use the computers is bogus not enough time to do real work second the printer service sucks to save on paper it automatically prints front and back and lastly the staff is unpleasant and the visit entirely was a waste of money since I don't live in EO.
They are closed more than open...hut when they are open it is a nice library
I recently moved from Clifton, nice building, shelf are bare, book selections slim. I do understand many libraries had really old books eaten by insects and had to get rid of them. More efforts should be made to fundraise to provide the library with new books so the community young and older can enjoy the world of reading. I'll have to go back to Clifton to get books to read.
Library employees are lazy and slow. They sit in the chairs, fall asleep, do minimal work, and provide no customer service but when it's closing time they are actively pushing you out the door. Administrative office does not contact patrons who want to file a complaint nor address do they address the issue.
Always support your local library! Your active participation only makes them stronger. Funding for libraries increasingly goes by the wayside but they should be celebrated as the heart of the city. I’ve been using our library for 6 years and encouraging my students to do the same. The last month of Grab and Go Kits on Tuesday have been a summer highlight for our family...creating projects and making recipes together. Please continue to reach out to the dedicated librarians...they have a plethora of knowledge and resources!
On this occasion, I was able to get on the computer and then print paperwork without an issue. At this time, you no longer have to make an appointment to use library services, but security is taking everyone's temperature and asking us to sanitize our hands. The computer room is not filled with a lot of people right now, so if there's something you need to do without dealing with a lot of distractions from others, you could do so. I went there a little before 3pm, and can only say how it was when I went there. Overall, the library is doing the best they can to serve the public. It’s not fully back to normal, but at least it's open now for walk-ins.
Very good, friendly and helpful staff Clean and quite environment fun place to visit with young kids
The staff I have dealt with have been informative and friendly. They offer a lot of info on my favorite hobbies knitting and crocheting. They also offer classes on different things and have lots for the kids. Plus you can print from anywhere straight to their desk. Would give 10 stars if I could.
