This place had a nice menu but the prices didn’t match the product. The sandwiches are expensive but not as loaded as they should be. I went with a pastrami and it was sub par. The house pickles are not good at all. They’re clearly homemade which is nice but the flavor was indistinguishable between dill or sweet. The bill racked up quick and I left hungry. Service was slow also. 3/5. I wish the place luck, I’m sure they’ve been there for years.
Ordered two sandwiches, a container of soup, and a few sides and the bill was $77! The service was fast as we ordered to go. I just thought $17 for a sandwich was a bit much.
I have been going to Epstein’s for many many years. The quality of the sandwiches has declined terribly. The hotdogs are disgusting. The matzo ball soup was good and reminiscent of days gone by. The waiter was the same guy that I can remember when I was in my twenties, I’m sixty five now. The waiter is and always was an awesome guy who knows how to treat customers. It really disappointed me since I traveled an hour and a half to visit Epstein’s. Hoping for the same quality Jewish kosher food that made it a great place to go to back in the day.
Great place to get a great bowl of matzoh ball soup. Wasn't too thrilled with the hot dog and pastrami sandwich. I've been out of the area for over 25 plus years. Used to go there for lunch and always loved the food. But I degress.... The staff is great, very attentive to the needs of their customers. Matter of fact the server was just a kid when he first served me over 30 years ago. Such a great guy and devoted employee. The coleslaw is excellent as well as the blackcherry Dr Browns soda, which I craved over the years along with their hotdogs and pastrami sandwich. A big disappointment to say the least. The hotdog was definitely NOT how I remembered it. It was soft, looked blackened from sitting on the grill for what looked like a long time. It tasted bad, not a snap when I took a bite. The consistency was like mush. The pastrami sandwich was dry and tasted "off" . I drove an hour and 30 minutes. Very disappointing. First time in all the years going there to eat I wasn't happy with the food. Hopefully it was just an "off" day for them. I do recommend going there. Just be aware of the hotdogs and pastrami sandwich!
This location is wayyy behind the one in Hartsdale. I had to ask for my Hot Dog Grilled, no bread, got it anyway. Server says they never do that but he would "do it in the back". The Dirty dishes were left in front of us long after we finished. The other order was Half Sandwich of Pastrami. So greasy, she had a hard time so took of the bread and used a napkin to get the grease out. There was a Sign next to us that said if you use a Credit Card you are automatically charged 4% extra!! Are you kidding. The meal was $25 without Tip. Bathroom was disgustingly dirty and could not wait to leave. Only reason we went was to be close to where we needed to be. Never again.
Had Matzo ball soup and combo pastrami and corned beef. Food and service were excellent and would highly recommend
I'll give it a three stars why cuz it's easier and faster to get to than Katz deli in Manhattan. If you're looking for a good pastrami sandwich at a deli I mean a regular hole in the wall deli this is a place to go locally. But again if you want a quality good pastrami sandwich take the time to go down to Kat's deli in Manhattan there's nothing better this place is just good locally otherwise they suck the pastrami was cut super thin. I was going to get it to go the guy talked me into staying he said we have servers it'll be nice and hot when it came there the sandwich wasn't even hot if you want pastrami go down the cat's deli or there's other good Jewish delis Epstein's is not the one why do people swear about it and actually sucks
Great pastrami I like mine on the fatty side. You can eat in or take out. The only thing I did not care for was the stuffed cabbage, thought it was way to sweet.
I bought Turkey sandwich on a roll. It only had Turkey, lettuce, and tomato. They charged me $16. On a ROLL. 16 dollars ! That’s insanely overcharged. I will never come back.
We filled the table with everything from A to Z. Not the best not the worst, but nonetheless a decent attempt. Middle of the road as far as favor or taste is concerned.
