Bike Park at Foothills Community Park
The sport of biking has grown exponentially in the last decade. Our sport is evolving and riders seek more challenging terrain, jumps, and constructed obstacles to hone their skills. A look around town and you'll see vacant lots with dirt mounds. Look closer and you'll see that kids have sculpted the mounds into jumps. These dirt jumps are built on private property and aren't always safe. Eventually the land owner or local government finds out and spends money to have these areas leveled. The kids just end up moving on to the next location. Communities all over the world are coming together to break the cycle and work with local government, land owners, and businesses to build bike parks. Community gems that not only create a safer and more controlled environment, but also promotes health and fitness.
Estrella Mountain Ranch is quickly turning into one of the Premier Mountain Biking Destinations in the valley. The community has come together to form the West Valley Trail Alliance and legally build great sustainable trails in collaboration with Newland Communities and Estrella Mountain Regional Park. The trail system F.I.N.S. has gained national recognition on the internet and in magazines.
The location would be north of the baseball fields and will include a Pump Track, Kiddie Track, and a Dual Slalom Course as part of phase 1 which would take 4-6 weekends to complete. Phase 2 would include Bike Skills Area’s and Slopestyle Jump Lines.
