Horrible. My mother had to make an emergency visit yesterday and I couldn't be there for her. I already felt terrible about that, and then my mother requested to the nurse to send me a copy of the visit as I'm in charge of her medical and legal life now that she's elderly. The nurse got offended and asked "why? What for?" As if that's your business first of all. The patient is telling telling you to share her information with her daughter...that's all you "need to know" They never emailed me as they said to my mother they would. So I call today to get it and spend 2 hours being transferred to every department in Fairview. Then I finally get to the nursing supervisor....she tells me she doesn't know why the nurse would tell us that to begin with because it's a HIPPA violation. Even when the patient requests it. I'll tell you why the nurse lied to my mother. Because she thought she could. My mother is elderly and an immigrant. English isn't her first language. This nurse took advantage of that and lied thinking it would be over. Well I'm here to call her and everyone else out at Fairview for their racism and how they treat the elderly in general. If you care about your elderly parents do not take them here. And especially do not let them go without you. They will be taken advantage of completely and thoroughly dismissed and disregarded. no one there is looking out for the patients and their families. I wish I could give them a negative 100 if I could. screw you guys for lying to my poor mother like that.
I went to the ER due to a psych issue I was experiencing that stemmed from having Covid. I was sent there by another nurse via the nurse line as they felt it was an emergency. The triage nurse was likely the worst nurse I’ve ever met in my life. She was irritated. I get it… the health system is a mess so those feelings are valid. However, I don’t think it’s appropriate to take that out on people who are coming in and genuinely struggling. Unfortunately, the wait times are really bad right now so I had to sit in a waiting room, uncontrollably crying for a couple hours. At a certain point, I went to go use the bathroom, and no joke, all 3 toilets were filled to the brim with fecal matter. When I asked if there was another restroom I could use because they were gross still sobbing, I was met with a long pause and a “ummm…way on the other side hospital.” I somehow find it hard to believe there aren’t any other bathrooms. They just don’t want us using them. In any case, the last straw was when the mean triage nurse was barking at me while I’m crying that there is a 4 hour wait. I got it… it’s a 4 hour wait. I will not be allowed to use a restroom. They could care less that I’m experiencing an virus induced psychotic break. I called my husband and had him come get me. In the morning I called Park Nicollet behavioral health where my insurance no longer covers, and they immediately had a plan in place for me by 8am. By 2pm, I had an appointment with my psychiatrist and couple prescriptions to help me out. I’m telling you, I would rather spend thousands on my doctors that my insurance doesn’t cover than ever go through Fairview again for any mental health need. So poorly handled.
I came in because I was having very bad breathing issues. And when I say bad I mean I was passing out prior. When I got there I told them what was wrong. After they took my vitals I had to wait. I don't mind waiting but when I asked the lady at the front desk how long the wait is she told me 6 hours. she was so rude to me and looked at me as if i was lying to her about my pain. I understand they are probably stressed out but the lack of mindfulness and kindness is nowhere to be seen here. Waste of my time. The front lady at the desk was named Maria. Blonde hair. Working at 4:30 am. Needs to be retrained in how to talk to people.
TERRIBLE. Hated every second of being here I was there for 10 hours. All nurses have attitudes. I’m usually not the type to write reviews, but I needed to tell the world about my bad experience. After being in the waiting area in the emergency room for 6 hours, I took the courage to ask one of the front desk ladies if they could give me an estimate of how much longer it would be. I wanted to plan around the rest of the night since my husband was accompanying me and kids are home, and he works early morning, etc, etc. All 4 ladies that were up at the front proceeded to be negative and say “nope” “we don’t have a time” “there are people who have been waiting way longer than you” you’re 4th on the line, just have a seat and we’ll call your name” I then asked again POLITELY, “do you guys maybe have an estimate time?” One then said “let’s see, what’s your last name?” Okay, I have , 1, 2, 3, and 4 people who have been waiting 3, 4, and 5 hours more than you. I gave up : and told my husband we are NEVER coming here again. Think twice before coming here.
Worse hospital ever. I completely understand that hospitals are low staffed but I showed up in the ER at 2AM and left at 7AM. I discharged myself due to no doctor being able to come out and tell me my results. One of the workers stated that I would not get my results possibly until 8 or 9am and had an attitude. There were patients in the lobby because they had no rooms and so much for hippa laws because I could hear people’s results out loud. Some guy came in there with his hand cut and he stated he felt like he was going to pass out and the front desk lady kept stating that he had to fill out paper work in order to be seen. Honestly, I don’t ever write reviews but run the other way if you want real healthcare and doctors! This is unbelievable.
Do not seek Children's ER care here! If surgery is needed, they will transfer you to UMMC and then charge for another whole ER visit so $1519*2!. Although the physicians are wonderful, their billing policies and accuracy are to be avoided. It's very unfortunate.
My Fiancee had to come into the ED on Christmas Day needless to say she was not pleased, but she was experiencing a dangerous level of blood oxygen desaturation. We were whisked into a room and they immediately started her on O2. The people were kind and professional. We had to return with the same issue 9 days after she'd been released and again they were efficient and professional. Needless to say we returned and will again as necessary. My Fiancee was admitted each time and things went reasonably well given that being in the hospital pretty universally sucks.
My 77 year old mom was transferred here for a internal bleed while recovering from a broken hip. The whole team on tower 1 8th floor were simply amazing. Best care I have seen during her recovery. They were kind, sincere and I think showed a real interest in each patient making a full recovery. Thank you for taking care of my mom.
I would like to give negative rating for this hospital. I don’t understand why they look at only our pockets. They all need is your money. I went their with chest pain and got suggestion to use the over the counter medication and they sent huge bill for that around 1500$ after insurance. When I spoke to them they won’t listen what you say, they always says “sorry sir, thats the amount due on your account and you need to pay”. Pathetic hospital and rude customer care.
I would have been better off going to HCMC. I wouldn’t have had to wait over 6 hours to get my vitals taken by the triage nurse and then sit back in the waiting room area for another few hours. By far the worst experience ever. Southdale used to be a nice place. But is now poor customer service and ghetto.
