We foster connection, strategy sharing, and action across a network of Montana organizations, serving the development of resilient local food systems.
Farm to Cafeteria Network Objectives:
Increase the knowledge and capacity of stakeholders throughout the food chain to expand Montana farm to institution sales --including farmers and ranchers, food processors and distributors, institutional food service directors, food retailers, students, teachers and administrators.
Seek solutions to institutional barriers, such as limited capacities for food processing, distribution, and storage.
Increase the commitment and capacity of Montana institutions to adopt healthier institutional food environments.
Identify specific needs and opportunities that Farm to Cafeteria Network will meet through innovative tools, trainings, and communications.
Farm to Cafeteria Networks’ mission is to support vibrant local communities by increasing the amount of healthy, locally-grown food served in public and private institutions.
We envision a state where Montanans have access to a knowledge base of local and national best-practices for making Farm to Cafeteria work as well as resources about how to start, grow, and sustain these programs in their institutions and communities. A robust network is maintained across the state, modeled on the Farm to Cafeteria database, providing producers and institutions a chance to locate partners near them in order to build and/or sustain Farm to Cafeteria programs and to learn from each other’s successes and challenges.
