Exceeded my expectations! The food was fantastic. The brisket breakfast burrito was life-changing. The staff is very nice.Food: 5/5
Stopped in for lunch with a friend, looks like there were good reviews. No, we both ordered a burger & fries was not very good the fries were cold very well done apparently not fresh and had ordered fried onions on a burger never got it, along with no pickes, and there were no cold beverages the cooler was not working. Awfully lunch will not be back. Apparently only one bathroom took 3 times to try to get in there!
I’ve eaten here twice and it’s been fantastic. I had initially expected there to be a little takeout operation in this Shell gas station, but it’s more like a Shell gas station in a restaurant. The restaurant design and decor, the hardwood flooring, etc.. is consistent throughout the space, making it perhaps the nicest Shell gas station in the state as well. Online, they say they are OPEN today Sunday. It’s 9:30 am and they have awesome breakfast so I called to order takeout. I didn’t have the best experience. I asked, “Good morning. Can I order for takeout”? And with this rapid fire attitude she replies, “yeah like tomorrow when we’re actually open”, and then rudely hangs up on me a pet peeve of mine. It takes less than a fraction of a second to say bye. Anyways, it was just a somewhat cold and terse exchange for what I’m used to. Sure. It’s a first world problem. But I live in a first world. So there ya go. And to be closed on Sunday of all days. That sucks for everyone, but especially for them. They just don’t know it. Not the best business decision. $$$$
TEXAS BBQ? Sort of ......... Everything here is Ok. Not great. Not terrible. Ribs: They were not fall off the bone tender. Wrestling was required for The 3 bones I got. The bones themselves had small amounts of meat on them and the rub on them is so-so. Brisket: The beef brisket was halfway between tender & dry. The "Chef" refused to slice from the point so I had to accept the flat. It was Ok. I did like the smokiness flavor to the brisket & ribs. Pulled Pork: The pulled pork was dry. That is all I have to say about this. French Fries: Meh. I've had better. Mashed Potatoes & Gravy: Very good. I liked this quite a bit. Bottom line. This place is good if you live in the area and want decent BBQ quickly. It's NOT WORTH DRIVING 30 MINUTES ACROSS TOWN FOR. There are plenty of other solid choices the Twin Cities. I would have given this place 4 stars but I could not believe the "Chef" wouldn't cut me some brisket from the point. That's not very customer friendly. Sorry dude.
Really good fried chicken. Better than Revival, Yankee Tavern, or Bonchon. Simpler offering and well done. Also, gourmet burgers and fries for under $8? Whaaa?!! Isn't that cheaper than Chipotle? Whoever made this place and attached it to a gas station is a genius. BTW, they also have a Bitcoin ATM - in the store! These people are those after my own heart and those young at heart.
So I'm not sure if somebody was just having a bad day or what was going on, I drove an extra 15 miles out of my way because I've eaten there before and the food was always great. Today that was absolutely not the case, I ordered the Alabama chicken sandwich like I did every time before and instead of getting a full breast for my sandwich I got three individual tiny pieces of chicken that was probably from the bottom of the bag on my sandwich, there was a glob of sauce in the middle of the sandwich along with seven pickles. Very disappointed.
What a gem of a gas station food counter. Legit, griddle-cooked tacos and tortas. Plus a menu that I'll have to come back further investigate. I'm sad it's taken me this long to find this place, but it's worth a drive out of the way. Ordered a barbacoa street taco and a steak and egg torta. So good. I'll be back.Food: 5/5
This place deserves more stars. Their breakfast burritos are awesome! We ordered ahead, got there in about 15 minutes on a Saturday morning, and our food was waiting for us. By the time we drove back home about 10 minutes and dove in, the burritos were still hot! They are wrapped in foil and in a Styrofoam container, so the food stays hot. Service has been great for the 2 times I've gotten take out here. Friendly staff and attentive. There is a very nice, fairly large seating area as well - looks out of a place in a gas station, but in a good way. I've had the Smokehouse with brisket and the chorizo burritos... I'll say the chorizo is slightly better. The ground chorizo is great - good spice without being too spicy nor too salty or greasy. My wife has had the farmer's burrito, which was also great. She said it was a little salty by the end, but not bad. Fair warning, they don't open until later on Sunday, so if you're jonsing for the delicious Sunday morning hangover burrito... You're gonna have to wait lol. We'll be back again!
I am a big fan of the Tennessee Sandwich it's been amazing once. It's just super inconsistent. It was half the size today. Brisket is more tender some days. No coleslaw. There's 1 good cook
We should have listened to the 3.9 stars. The portions are LG but sadly the food has no flavor. And the fries were burnt.Food: 2/5
