Finally got my hands on some highly coveted baked goods from FWSB! With the high popularity order ahead is crucial holiday season hours shifting around odd hours anyway it took two visits to make this happen. End result: very good, especially the almond croissant pictured that was an absolute piece of artwork. Size of each piece was also very impressive. The only thing holding this review back was the relatively high price and relative inconvenience. Very curious to try their breads on a future visit. UPDATE: After trying the sour dough and brioche, have to admit that FWSB is
We came on the Christmas Eve. There was a huge line but the wait wasn’t too bad since most people are just picking up their pre-orders. We didn’t place pre-orders but were still able to buy most of their signature baked goods sour-dough bread, croissant, turnover. They handed out free cookies for people in the line which was very nice. Really loved their croissant and turnover. Very crispy layers and the fillings tasted very fresh, natural and not sugary at all. The sourdough bread was very soft and fluffy inside. Highly recommend you to place a pre-order ahead of time if you are looking for specifics.
Some of the best pastries I've had in a very long time. And probably one of the best croissants I've had in my lifetime. We will continue to come and support this wonderful bakery as long as it's open!
Masters of bread and pastries, this is where you get traditional recipe bread made fresh every day. It's beautiful and made from natural yeast, and you'll find that its healthier and nothing you buy at the supermarket can compare. If you haven't been here GO NOW, you will never look at bread the same way again!
Bread is fantastic! Pastries are hit or miss. Waiting in line for 30+ minutes is awful. I've tried this place multiple times and always have to wait a painfully long time. Tons of people ordering big pre-orders and people taking ages to choose or get helped. Anytime I see a line out the door now I just go elsewhere.
We got a selection of freshly baked goods before going to the aquarium. This place was highly recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. Although pricey $$$, it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area. Winning star for us was the chocolate chip cookie! A must have for sure. Unfortunately the cashier the day we went wasn’t the most welcoming/ polite. Hopefully it was just an off day.
In town for over a month for work, and this is the best bakery hands down!!! If in Darien, a must see, but get there early cuz I’ll snag all the cookies!!!
The breads are consistently great but the quality of their pastries are not consistent. Recently I got an apple turnover and a chocolate croissant and felt both of them were underbaked, especially the apple turnover. The pastries are on the pricier side so I’d expect better quality. I’d stick with the breads going forward.
Great selection of breads and pastries, really enjoyed their English muffins and focaccia bread. Have yet to find anything I did not like.
This bakery and Rob's bread are truly a gift to the community. His dedication to his craft is evident by the luxurious naturally leavened sourdough bread that he produces. Be sure to try a pastry too!
