Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport is a general aviation airport located within the city limits of Fort Lauderdale, in Broward County, Florida, United States, five miles (8 km) north of downtown Fort Lauderdale. It is a division of the Transportation and Mobility Department of the City of Fort Lauderdale.OverviewThe airport was built in 1941 to train Naval Aviators during World War II, and named West Prospect Satellite Field. In 1947, the federal government deeded the airport to Fort Lauderdale for use as a public airport.The airport serves over 150,000 aircraft operations per year, making it the eighth busiest General Aviation center in the United States. The airport is designated as general aviation reliever facility for the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport by the FAA. The airport is a Landing Rights Airport with a U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility. The airport also operates a 24/7 ARFF facility that meets the requirements of index B, although the airport is not certificated under FAR Part 139. ARFF services are provided by Fort Lauderdale Fire-Rescue

Fort Lauderdale Airport offers a convenient and pleasant travel experience. The terminal is modern and well-maintained, making navigation easy. Security procedures are efficient, and staff are generally helpful.  The dining and shopping options are diverse, allowing travelers to find something to suit their tastes. However, prices can be on the higher side.  Transportation to and from the airport is readily available, with taxis, rideshares, and rental cars easily accessible.  One drawback is the occasional crowding, especially during peak travel times. Overall, Fort Lauderdale Airport provides a decent travel experience but could benefit from more affordable dining options and improved crowd management.

For such a small airport it has a larger footprint.  You can find some great food at the Runway Cafe after a private flight.  There is no commercial service here only private jet and prop planes.  It is a nice way to avoid the horrible traffic and lines at nearby FLL airport.  Parking is somewhat limited, Banyan has the nicest terminal.

Great airport! Has shops and food/snacks/beverages as you need them, without even spending too much time. The people there are very considerate with each flight and they are very nice. Many places to sit and relax before or after a flight. It is very clean inside and out, and easy to land or take off. Thank you guys so much for a great experience!

Jet Runway cafe was an excellent experience great atmosphere and amazing food. Highly recommended

Rent a plane here for SFL flights, nice airport.  Tower is easy to work with

"Ferry Flights Int'l. Inc." Owner Mick visited this airport several times on Intercontinetal ferry flights and its allways been a pleasure to see how efficient this place is, good FBO's, great controllers, friendly people...what a relief after coming in from 3rd. World countries...

Great local airport. That said, it's gotten out of hand with some rates for tie down & even more hangers. Only 1 shop on the field good for service. Tom Schmidt. Honest and fair. Still the best! Great ATC controllers! ATC is the best! Thanks all, for the great service and helping keep us safe in the air!
