A space where Foundations of Health students at HCC can find academic and career information, communicate with advisors, and get to know other students in the program!
The Foundations of Health degree is a 65-66 credit Associate Degree in Arts and Science. This degree is designed for students interested in a health- related career. Students begin by taking Introduction to Health Careers (HTH 101), along with General Education requirements. Students will work closely with their assigned advisor to place into appropriate courses, guided by their strengths and personal goals. The courses will be used as a springboard into a variety of health careers. These include immediate certifications as a Nursing Assistant (HTH 210); certificate programs such as Medical Assistant; and degree programs such as Nutrition (A.S.) or Human Services (A.S.).
The co-requisites for Selective Programs in health are embedded in this major. Selective Programs include Associates Degree in Nursing, Certificate in Practical Nursing, and Radiologic Technology (A.S.) . Each of these programs requires a separate application process along with attendance at the appropriate information session. See the website for more details.
Students who provide service and/or support to any state facility working with vulnerable populations (including students in Selective programs and HTH 210) will be required to complete a CORI/SORI background check.
Our mission is to provide FOH students with an accessible and easy means of communicating with an adviser as well as useful academic and career information. We will post updates about upcoming health related events on and around campus
