French's Boots

I would say that the looks of their boots are good but the size choices are very limited and the prices don't really match up to the size and brand match, e.g. $150 for size 12 but $180 for size 8 of the same model/brand of boots. They also aren't very comfortable feeling. I would suggest sticking with walmart for boots.

My husband went in to get boots. No one helped him, everyone was more interested in talking amongst themselves instead of helping customers. Will be going back to French's in Crossville. They have much better service and care about customers

I've bought the majority of my boots here since the late 70s - early 80s when they were in the old location on Hwy 70. They were one of the few, and at times the only, shoe store in town where certain top of the line hiking boots could be found and, although today the selection in the specialty work boot department has dwindled somewhat, for years they've been the only store in town where certain types of specialized work boots could be found welding/ironworker, Fireman, etc. They also have some Carhartt and similar clothing; bibs, jackets, etc. While it's not my thing, they do have have some nice looking looking cowboy accessories as well. Apparently they're under different ownership or management now but, they're friendly and helpful without being annoying and, as I was fortunate to find out myself, they are HONEST!! I don't mind paying just a few dollars more in certain cases to do business with a local brick and mortar where I can get quality merchandise and personal service without the aggravation of shipping back what doesn't fit. If you need shoes or boots, check them out 1st.

I purchased a pair of hiking boots from here but I accidentally received a mix match pair with a right foot size 8 and a left foot size 8.5. I purchased the shoes and two days later my husband and I moved from Cookeville to Cleveland, TN. I never wore the shoes since they were for my job that I started a month later so I didn’t noticed the different sizes until about a month after the purchase. I called the store and explained what happened and they said to come on in even after the 30 days past the purchase date and that they would take care of everything. They ended up ordering a new pair straight from keen’s which were mailed to the store in Cookeville and they forwarded the shoes to my new home in Cleveland all for free with no hassle. They even left me a personalized note with my new shoes saying if I needed anything else they would happily help me or fix whatever I needed. Needless to say customer care was above and beyond!! I never write reviews but I had to write about this place and my experience!! 10/10 recommend for all your shoe needs.

They have a wide selection. The employees were very helpful! They didn't have my size in the boots I wanted but they did order them for me

The shop has lots to choose from, although inventory is a bit low right now due to the economy, etc. The biggest lack I found was getting the man there manager? To help me. He clearly avoided eye contact and when I finally trapped him to notice me, he quickly sight his first escape to return to unpacking boxes. I would normally leave my number, shop local, and wait until my size came in, but he ran away so quickly, I had no opportunity. Given that, went online and got my size in the same style and brand. I want to shop local, but local businesses have to want the business.

I have to say this was definitely a high point to my trip to Tennessee. We stop in there about every time we're down that way, but this time we hit the jackpot they had so many amazing sales I could hardly believe it, I think I bought shoes for everybody in the family LOL. Got some great deals and spent less than $100. I definitely highly recommend this to anyone who's visiting the area. Very helpful courteous knowledgeable and just overall friendly staff and owner. I will never visit Cookeville Tennessee again without stopping by there.

Great selection and even greater staff! The staff knew I would be buying a pair of Hoffman boots from a different seller, rather than them because they don't stock Hoffman's and still made their best effort for making sure I knew the perfect size to order them in! I highly recommend this place if only for the staff's knowledge!
