Inspiring connection to the natural world through exceptional environmental education, volunteer, and stewardship programs.
The Friends of Tryon Creek was founded in 1969 by a group of forward-thinking individuals who came together to preserve the unique and historic forested canyon that borders Lake Oswego and Portland and turn it into a park. Today, the Friends, a private non-profit that receives no direct state funding, continues to utilize the park as a classroom for ouir environmental education programs as well as leading efforts to conserve and restore the park to a more healthy and flourishing ecosystem.
The Friends of Tryon Creek connect people to this important natural area, share our passion for the wonders of nature, and inspire environmental stewardship in all.
FOTC’s goal of adding value to the community’s experience of Tryon Creek State Natural Area (TCSNA) is achieved by:
- Offering meaningful educational and stewardship programs
- Overseeing efforts to maintain trails and facilities
- Creating a range of volunteer opportunities
- Maintaining successful partnerships with Oregon Parks and Recreation Department and others who share our values and goals.
