Amazing COE campground, quiet, beautiful views. We stayed during the week so it wasn't busy at all. Pick your site carefully, they are not all the same angle or size. Only water and electric at the sites, no sewer. We got the perfect site, site 12 with 50 amp electric right on the water for $30 a night. Dump station on the way out. Friendly hosts. Don't be like the campers before us and leave trash all over your site and in the still smoldering fire pit, that's not cool. We will be back! Restrooms: In need of some love
When you drive in you are greeted by the friendliest people!! Sites are easy to find and very well maintained. Our site #52 had a gorgeous view of the lake, sunsets beautiful! Bathrooms and showers clean Very quiet and peaceful! We would return here for longer stays. Playground: Basketball court Playground area Restrooms: Clean Dog-friendliness: Never heard dogs barking but did see them in the park Picnic area: At site had very nice picnic area Others viewed
Loved this camping spot. $28/$30 per spot, and that's pricey for me for tent camping but this was truly worth it. Each spot is spacious and has lovely views. And shockingly the bugs are not bad at all, like where do they take the mosquitoes? I'd come back here and stay anytime. Clean bathrooms, respectful and quiet other guests, dog friendly, what more could you want?
This is a Core of Engineers park right next to the Tennessee-Tombigbee waterway. You can watch barges going by from the water view sites and from walkways, paths, and docks. The camphosts were so nice and friendly here. They recommended a local eatery nearby called Guy's Place on water dining which, while the temp was very hot inside the restaurant, provided a nice meal with good views. We have had 2 pull-through sites here - #9 and #46. While #46 is a large, very private stand alone site away from the water; #9 is a buddy site closer to the water with a path to a dock. We like both sites and our 40' class A motorhome towing a Jeep Wrangler fit just fine. It would not have been as nice if the buddy site 8/9 had another camper there with us. The park is an easy drive off I-22 not far from Tupelo to get to this park. We hope to return here sometime.
We stayed a couple of nights to start our spring break week. The hosts are very nice and welcoming. Bathrooms were also very clean. Older, but clean. Our loop didn't have very many campers during our stay. All sites have electric and water hookups but no sewer. I'm pretty sure all of the Federal campgrounds at least in this area do not have sewer hookups, although there IS a dump station close to the entrance by the garbage dumpsters. There are three loops, each with its own bathhouse and fishing pier. All are connected by trails. There is also a small playground by the check-in station, as well as pavilions and a basketball/volleyball court. The Whitten Center is a nice feature, with informative plaques and pictures detailing the Tenn Tom Waterway, Army Corps of Engineers, and other aspects of the region. This is a beautiful location. All loops are on ridges, well above the water level, so the sites with flat areas around the concrete pads are great for tent camping. We set up our 20'x20' tent on Site #24 and had plenty of room. That or Site #25 will most likely be our go to spots for tent camping in the future. There is a restaurant just down the road by the marina, Guy's Place. I've never been, but I've heard great things about it so it will be on our list for the next trip. This campground is definitely worth looking at!
Stopped in for a night heading to Tiffin for express bay service work…..short drive to Red Bay, AL and was super happy when I pulled into my site for the night…..site 52 is fabulous as it has a beach on the river! Ingress and egress in a 45 foot tag axle coach pulling a Jeep was no issue and getting in and out was very simple. The camp host was the sweetest lady who was most accommodating. Highly recommend in all regards, especially for $30. 50 amp plus water at site and two dump stations with great access on way out.
This park at one time must have been a beautiful place and can be again. It has fallen into neglect. Trails are overgrown. Boards on decks are rotten. We were scared to walk out on them. It definitely needs some TLC. My husband said the men's showers were really low and no way to adjust them. Like made for children, short people. I had no problem in mine. They both had pressure and hot water. They were clean. We had electric and water and there is a dump. We did have some TV reception and spotty to no internet. But would have enjoyed it a bit more if we could have walked the paths without briars. Nevertheless, we would still stay here again if in the area.
Such a wonderful park! Asphalt hiking trails with bridges, park for the kids, basketball court, swimming beach and fishing docks. We stayed in site 9, a pull through site all concrete with water and electric. A really nice park and the camp host was amazing!
Very nice and clean campground. Love that’s it’s gated and the sites are spread out! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Beautiful view of the sunset over the lake
Nice campsites many with water views and paved parking pads. Large fire pits and picnic tables are in good shape. We stayed in site 27 and backing in does require coming back at an angle once in the site lays out nicely. Has a designated swimming area, basketball and volleyball court and playground. Reservation process easy online and check in process was smooth upon arrival.
