Since 2009, Gather in Berkeley has showcased truly organic, local, “head to tail” and “root to shoot” food and craft cocktails that reflect the bounty of Northern California.
In daily conversation with farmers we utilize rare heirloom varietals and foraged ingredients to create dishes that are as satisfying to carnivores as they are to vegans and those with dietary restrictions. The animal products we source are butchered in house and come from local, sustainable ranches focused on heritage breeds.
Gather’s artisan beverage program highlights small batch products, house made liqueurs, sodas and infusions that, like our food, reflect the best of the season. Wines focus on West Coast producers committed to sustainable, low impact viticulture practices, while our beer selection highlights independent brewers who exemplify NorCal’s pioneering beer culture.
We encourage you to make a reservation, but we always do our our best to accommodate walk-ins as well.
All 24 seats at our bar and dining counter and the 30 on our patio are available on a first come, first served basis.

Gather cares more about the way the food has been cultivated than about agency certification or politics. Before purchasing we research:
1. Fair labor practices - everyone involved has been treated with respect.
2. Low distance sourcing–ingredients have traveled the shortest distance during its lifecycle.
3. Minimally processed ingredients–hand crafted, artisanal.
4. Fairly traded products – paying farmers a fair price for their efforts.
5. Purity – heirlooms, organics and beyond, no MSG, preservatives or artificial sweeteners or colors of any kind. We only choose animals that have been humanely raised, without hormones or antibiotics.
