They do not have any appointments available and they are not very helpful either. My travel time is approaching very quickly and I do not know what to do....  Edit to my previous review:  I was able to book an appointment as someone had cancelled last minute. I had a very good experience there, and was advised to provide a missing document via email. I understand that the consulate is very busy, especially after COVID since everyone is trying to travel, so my apologies for the bad review! :

I give one star because I was able to reach a “live” person after calling numerous times for weeks. The personnel started off with the exact words “ first of all” and it was not a pleasant experience and continued throughout the conversation. Although I pressed for English, after mentioning the document in German, the conversation switched to German by the person responding to my question. Disrespectful is a fitting adverb to express the attitude of their employee over the phone. After being told that there is no way to accompany my request “for my own convenience”, she suggested to take my number and email just so another person could email the same answer with an impolite undertone. It was definitely not professional.

This place is awful, these so called civil servants do everything possible to delay a simple matter, they make sure they bombard you with the maximum amount of bureaucratic  hurdles so that a simple passport renewal is done as slowly as possible. Both my daughters got new passports, yet each of them required a different set of documents just to make it virtually impossible to accomplish this goal. Truly, this is a disgrace to the hard- working  citizens of Germany to be supporting such an inefficient consulate that does not even trust in its own system of authorities, ministries and governmental institutions. When  mailing documents in, you will not receive an email confirming that this consulate received the documents, nor will you receive a name who is the person overseeing your case or petition. Must be some kind of a German secret. I am  saddened that we do not have other options and are stuck with incompetency, dishonesty  I have been charged a higher fee because the female in charge of passports did not want to be inconvenienced to check and help. If this is what we citizens of Germany get, we better just fly to NY and close this wasteful operation.

I was very nervous about my visa application appointment, but had a great experience, so hopefully this info puts others at ease.  Consulate is located in Marquis Tower 2 right next door to Marriot Marquis on the ninth floor. Arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment if you arrive more than that they will ask you to wait downstairs in the lobby. When you arrive make sure you have a scanned copy of your passport and a scan of your proof of residence in the consular district scan of drivers license, utility bill, etc as well as your printed appointment email.  Make sure you have all of the documents listed for your required visa as well as CASH to pay the application fee listed in euros - make sure to convert to USD and to have your passport mailed back $12 when I went. When you fill out the FedEx form it allows you to include your phone number for shipping updates, which was very comforting! I followed all of the information on the website and had everything I needed.  All of the employees I interacted with were very friendly and helpful and I received my visa back in the mail a week after it was approved.

Nice people, easy and swift process. Got my passport with visa stamped in 3 days from the document submission date.

I had my passport renewed today and it was absolutely easy, fast and I have to point out that the staff was super nice. I really enjoyed talking to the young man that took care of me and my passport application process. Definitely 5 star worthy.

I’m taking a trip to Germany in about one month and I’ve been trying to find information on and whether or not there are documents or visas I needed to fill out on the websites and nothing was ever clear it was all very confusing. So I called the German consultant for some information about it and the woman I talked to kept saying to check the website even though I already told her I checked it and was confused. I’m currently in the south for school and that is why I called the consular in Atlanta but when I told her I’m originally from up north she immediately tried transferring me to a different consistent to get me off her hands. The whole conversation lasted about 3 minutes she sounded like she was very annoyed as soon as she picked up. I ended up hanging up on her

We were very happy with today's transaction to renew our passports. It was easy to get an appointment prior to the visit, and the entire staff was extremely courteous and forthcoming. We especially enjoyed the good and professional sense of humor of the passport officer while our documents were submitted for review.

I called and before saying anything she asked me where I live, I told her in Texas and she gave me their contact info.  I was going to ask a general question but she didn’t even listen to me, I was talking and she said call that number and closed the line while I was talking, very rude service.  I hope not all Germans are like her, was exited to visit Germany but not anymore.  I totally understand that I should contact the consulate in Texas, but they are not answering and I just had a general question!  Out of niceness she could let me just finish my question and then say sorry I have no answer!!  What a rude lady!

I had my passport renewed today, and it was absolutely easy, nice. I really enjoyed talking to the lady she was friendly ,that took care of me and my passport application process. Thank you so much
