$10 parking on site. Not for the weak or elderly. Very steep grades and uneven paths. Beautiful area with many waterfalls. Abundant wildlife. Outdoor raptors in cages to see too. Download the map or take a picture of the map, it will come in handy. Some points are marked but direction arrows would be useful. Easy to get lost or turned around.
Would give it more stars if possible. A gorgeous nature preserve in the Dayton metro area with excellent opportunities to see beavers, herons, owls and other raptors. Check out the raptor rehab center for up close encounters with local raptors or just enjoy the miles of hiking trails featuring glaciated topography. The climb in/out by the information center is pretty strenuous but there are some trails more suited to those with mobility challenges. Of course no visit to The Glen is complete without a sip from the Yellow Springs.
This is a beautifully maintained nature preserve that showcases quintessential Ohio nature. I enjoy waterfall hikes, so I set aside a day after a heavy rain so I could see them at their best. There is a $5 parking "donation," which helps support this beautiful parcel of land, so it's well worth the fee. I did a 4-mile trail loop The Grotto Oak Triangle/Birch Creek, and I was glad I'd downloaded the map on the AllTrails app, as the signage is not great. Much of the trail runs along the river gorge, but there is some elevation change throughout. In some areas, stairs are built into the landscape. It was a lovely afternoon, quiet and peaceful, and I will most definitely return.
Amazing! Love all the waterfalls, very busy trail if you don't come early. Most of the crowds die off after the first couple miles, they're mostly there for the waterfalls, but the pine forest further in is so peaceful and beautiful. I did about 6 miles in total looping around the whole place and wandering off aimlessly sometimes. Highly recommend coming early. I arrived at 8 and had the trail to myself for a bit but the parking lot was FULL when I left at around noon.
Beautiful perserve, plenty of space/trail distance. Easy to find, plenty of routes to take and of course right near the heart of yellow springs. All around a good hike, peaceful, quiet and rejuvenating. Many benches or seating along the trails in case you decide you'll need a rest for a moment.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
Started my day off with these views. Parked around 9am it's $5 to park at the Glen Helen parking lot, perfect time of day before temps got too warm and minimal people. Passed a handful of wanderers on my trek. It's fantastic to see how much has changed since I was last there. I'm also happy to see that visitors are hopefully keeping the area clean. I only saw one glass bottle, no papers or wrappers.
Loved the variety of beauty this trail offered! Interesting swamp still water, stone steps, multiple small waterfalls, boulders, stone chimney boulder type things. It was beautiful! As others have said, it’s not just poorly marked but no blazes whatsoever that we saw. As long as you are using all trails you’ be fine and be able to stay on the trail you want. Any off trail you take will all pretty much get you to the same place in the end. We saw reviews mentioning walking through water, we were so anxiously anticipating this so we were quite disappointed at first lol bc at the start we just had puddles and rocks to walk through but towards the end of the trail was when we had the opportunity to cross through the water, it’s not deep but still exciting. You can even get away with non waterproof shoes. Wildlife: we saw a beautiful woodpecker, a momma groundhog and her baby, a turtle and a big ol toad. The scenery constantly changes and all is stunning. Perfect hike with a family. We saw several people but were able to hike the majority completely alone.
I enjoyed visiting; there are some beautiful sights along the trail. Best I have seen so far in the greater Cincinnati/Dayton areas. I wish there was more signage for following the red "Inman trail" as I was unsure which direction to go at several points, and I saw others standing looking at their phones with the same confusion. The inman trail does have quite a few rocky steps and elevation changes so I agree with the moderate rating. I walked considerably slower than my normal hiking pace since it was a little slippery/muddy in places, and because there were a lot of other people on the trail in some areas the trail is quite narrow so people need to step to the side for someone else to pass by. Parking in the lot is $10. I would go back, but at a time when it's less likely to be as crowded, and probably not with too much regularity based on the parking cost and not having more intuitive signage for the trail direction.
Such a beautiful place to hike the trails and see nature! We had a lot of fun. It was an awesome place to spend our Saturday together!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entryFree
STUNNING. I got here about 830 and had the trail to myself for a time, but by the time I left it was PACKED. Not a single spot available. I did a 5.5 mile route past the springs, waterfalls, through the pine forest and it was all just so beautiful. The crowds die down a bit once you get past the waterfalls. If you loop around be ready to get your feet wet at the creek crossing but so worth it. $5 honor system parking. Worth every single penny.
