Take a step into German heritage by visiting this place. It has such a festive atmosphere and incredible German food. The stuffed mushrooms are awesome. The schnitzel is delicious, and they have a huge variety of styles with different gravies and veggies. Their red cabbage is perfection, as are the dumplings. The only thing that was a little lackluster was the spaetzle. Fantastic German beer selection as well as German cordials and wine. The staff were super friendly and very attentive. We can't wait to go back. Make sure to buy a hat pin or a shirt to commemorate your visit.
I ordered the bier flight that came with 8 of their draft biers. To be honest I do not like beer because they are so bitter to me, however, when I tried their beer it changed my mindset of beer. I have to say all of them were refreshing and easy to drink. My favorite were the dark biers. I also ordered the sampler platter that came with 3 potato pancakes, 3 stuffed mushrooms, 3 sauerkraut balls, and 3 mini burgers. The mini burger and potato pancakes were my favorite especially with the provided sauces. I didn't like the stuffed mushrooms or sauerkraut balls they were too salty for my liking and I wasn't a big fan of the meat. We sat at the bar and had nice conversations with others sitting nearby. The bartender was friendly and quick.
Enjoyed the German Fest there. Food is authentic as much as it can be. The Beer is awesome.Food: 5/5
A very fun atmosphere with really really good German food. I went with a friend and while I didn't have a big appetite I decided to order a side potato salad and the sauerkraut balls as an appetizer. The potato salad was the best I have ever had, beating another great German restaurant in downtown San Antonio. It had the perfect blend of tang to it and was served warm. It is honestly to die for. The sauerkraut balls were good. They are a breaded blend of sauerkraut, spicy ham, and sausage, deep fried. They were served with a tasty "sweet mustard" which was like a good honey mustard dipping sauce. The prices here aren't cheap, but the ambiance and delicious food were well worth it.
This is the place to go for great German food! Great atmosphere and entertainment!Food: 5/5
Definitely as authentic as German there is. Someone recommended this spot because I was looking for a true German restaurant in the Chicagoland area and it did not disappoint. I had the bratwurst with the homemade noodles, and of course the beer! Had an awesome time with friends. Definitely want to come back for Oktoberfest festivities though!
My wife and I have been going to Schnitzel Platz for over 20+ years. We do a group dinner every year with a group of friends for the Oktoberfest celebration and always have a great time. The service and atmosphere are always amazing. The food, however, while still okay, has gone a bit downhill since the new ownership. Last night's meal specifically was REALLY salty and lukewarm. It almost seems as if the dishes are not freshly made but a reheated and pre-made version. Chef Wolfgang presence in the kitchen is greatly missed, and it shows.
I don’t eat German food often, but not only was this the best German food I’ve ever had, it was really some of the best dining experience and quality of food I’ve had overall in a long time. They have live music and it was so entertaining. Very friendly welcoming and knowledgeable staff. The owner came over to our table and made us feel very welcome. To some these may sound small details but to me they make a restaurant experience into wonderful night. We will be back very soon! 5 stars on everything!
Ann Marie was fantastic. She had a huge table to deal with and did it with a great big smile. She was polite and courteous and informative. The food was great and the bier was plentiful I had das boot size. Huge. Thank you for a great night. Parking: No problem.
We really enjoyed a lunch at Schnitzel Platz during Oktoberfest season. They had great draft beer options and the potato pancakes were a hit. We also ordered a large pretzel with the beer cheese and that was also very good. The German salad was great with the bratwurst sandwich. All in all it felt like a very genuine German experience and made us feel like we were back in Germany!
